Foundry
• M/s Tata Motors Limited is India's largest automobile company. It is the leader in
commercial vehicles in each segment, and the second largest in the passenger
vehicles. The company is the world's fifth largest medium and heavy commercial
vehicle manufacturer and the world's second largest medium and heavy bus
manufacturer. Recently achieved World Class Quality (Lebel – 1) Award.
• Products are- Cyl.head, Cyl. Block (Both for Cummins & Tata Motors), Gear case Housing,
Flywheel Housing.
 Function performed
• Quality circle activity & Process control of all items.
• Marking of all cores as well as core box & pattern through CMM.
• Inside cleanliness and wall thickness checking through sectioning.
• Follow-up semi-finished machining of products & done rejection review at customer end
& interpretation with process variables.
• Interfacing with R&D/ PE for necessary modifications in component design for
manufacturability of components for use in the automobile goods.
• Facilitating new product development initiatives.
• Data collection for Statistical analysis.
• Reduction in Rejection percentage & Continuous Improvement.
• Internal audit at process area.
 Significant Achievements (2014-15):
• Reduced dimensional rejection of Cummins block from 2.7% to 0.23%
• Reduced gas defect in Cyl. head CMVR from 2.2% to 1.1%.
• Introduced recent development of ISBe & CRDi toolings (Pattern & Core Boxes) through
CMM checking.
• Validated all core shop machines to get optimum quality of product.

• M/s Hindustan Motors Limited (HML), India's pioneering automobile
manufacturing company and Flagship Company of the C.K. Birla Group was
established just before Indian independence, in 1942 by Mr. B.M. Birla of the
industrious Birla family, the automobile division at Uttarpara is engaged in the
manufacture of the iconic Ambassador and light commercial Winner.
 Function performed
• Quality circle activity & Process control of all items.
• Green sand moulding control for Automobile parts.
(e.g. Cyl. Block, Cyl. Head, Gear box, Housings, Manifolds, B/drums etc.)
• Shell sand control for core making.
• Washing of core & mould.
• Black casting review.
• In charge of PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) section.
• Rejection control of Casting at In-house and Customer End also.
• Work with a team of 12 members.
 Significant Achievements:
• Reduce core broken defect in Cyl. Head from 8% to 1.5%.
