The Smart Green Chart is an Upgrade to traditional Green Charts used for student behavior management. The chart is made digital and with WiFi connectivity teacher can update the behavior status of student using mobile app. The chart is installed with RGB LEDS which illuminate in different colors to highlight students behavior status and updates the information in a centralized database for reporting and trend analysis. The system can also be integrated with existing School Management System. www.smartgreenchart.com

Behavior Traffic Light System UPGRADED
Smart Classroom and Behavior Management System
A system for reducing problem behaviors.

7. Positive Autism: STAY ON GREEN
• The behavior traffic light is a system for addressing problem
behaviors.
• This is a level system in which a child earns privileges at different
levels depending on his or her behavior.
• In this system, the levels of behavior correspond to different levels on
the “traffic light” – green, yellow, and red.
• Green is the highest level of privileges (when the child is behaving well),
• Yellow is the next level (when the child is engaging in minor problem
behaviors).
• and red is the level on which the child is engaging in severe problem
behaviors, such as a meltdown or aggressive behavior.
8. Positive Autism: STAY ON GREEN
• The child moves to different levels in the system
depending on his or her behavior throughout the day.
• The goal of the system is to motivate the child to
control his or her own behavior in order to earn rewards
and privileges.
• The focus is not on punishment, but rather reinforcing
the child for behaving appropriately.
13. Shortcomings in the system
• No Tracking
• No Reports
• No Logging
• No Trend Analysis
• Parents not updated
• Principal cannot see the class behavior summary
• Updating chart takes manual efforts
24. Benefits
• No performance surprises after the end of secession.
• Individual Performance charts
• Teachers and parents model positive behavior.
• Pupils who regularly follow the rules are noticed and rewarded.
• There is a clear system of rewards and sanctions.
• All pupils have the opportunity to make positive choices about their
behavior and influence outcomes.
Hi, I would like to introduce our new product idea “The Smart Green Chart” for happy parents, happy teacher and happy students.
I am an Engineer and my wife is elementary school teacher, I like to make stuff and she likes to teach. One day as we were discussing our daily routine my wife shared a critical problem with me, which every teacher faced in the school. The student behavior management problem.
Back in the days, everyone used to hold student responsible for their grades but today things have changed. Today parents are more concerned about the result of their child than ever before and hold the school and teacher responsible for it. School management also puts entire responsibility on the teachers. This was a big problem.
We started to find solution to the problem and discussed the issue with several other teachers, collected some data and analyzed it.
The results were surprising, about 30% of the limited class time is spent in managing behavior of the students, due to which the subject contents are not covered in time which also bothers school management.
Due to which two issues were created
The course material was not covered as planned
And
2. Students didn’t develop sense of responsibility of their actions.
Obviously we cannot improve behavior using this approach. So what should we do.
We did further research and studied different models being used around the world. The goal was to make the students themselves more organized and responsible, so teachers will have more time to communicate and explain the course material and be less stressed out due to behavior management issues and not go CRAZY.
We found POSITIVE AUTISM to be a very interesting and useful technique and found several tools to implement this technique, with names Such as Behavior Traffic Light system or Stay on the Green charts.
These are level system, in which a child earns privileges at different levels depending on his or her behavior.
In this system, the levels of behavior correspond to different colors of cards on the chart – green, yellow, and red.
Green> Best Behavior
Yellow>minor problem
Red> Serious problem, meeting with parents might be required.
xxxxxxx
Green is the highest level of privileges (when the child is behaving well), yellow is the next level (when the child is engaging in minor problem behaviors), and red is the level on which the child is engaging in severe problem behaviors, such as a meltdown or aggressive behavior.
The child moves to different levels in the system depending on his or her behavior throughout the day. The goal of the system is to motivate the child to control his or her own behavior in order to earn rewards and privileges. The focus is not on punishment, but rather reinforcing the child for behaving appropriately.
This is how the system works
Define the behaviors associated with each color
Define what the child is allowed to have at each level
Decide on a “check-in” time.
Teach the system to the child.
Start using the system.
Further details of the system can be found online.
We made a sample chart on the weekend and tested it. The response was GREAT, and everyone in the school admired it. It started to save time and we could see how concerned students were to stay on the green.
Students started to learn, to control their own behavior.
Students Said, I may like to stay “on the green” so I can have my favorite activities in privileged time.
We used the system for observed some limitation in the system.
Traditional Green charts work in isolation,
teachers update the status and no one is updated about the periodic performance,
and when parents see unexpected result its too late.
Parents, teachers and school administration has to be kept informed about a child who needs special attention in the right time.
We needed to get more from the system.
These were the major shortcomings of the system.
So this is were the maker side of me came in, I said why not make this green chart digital and connect the responses with the parents and school administration.
So we began to work with our team and this is what we cam up with.
The idea is to illuminate each card slot, by using Digitally Addressable LEDS with WiFi control to mobile interface.
Use the available microcontroller platforms such as SPARK with WiFi, connect the RGB LEDs, illuminate each section of the chart with the color as per students performance, attach database, and have an mobile app for teachers and parents.
Use the available microcontroller platforms such as SPARK with WiFi, connect the RGB LEDs, illuminate each section of the chart with the color as per students performance, attach database, and have an mobile app for teachers and parents.
The idea matured and we said why not have the provision to connect this with school management system. And Why not take attendance of the students on the app too.
We can add a battery pack for power backup and connect everyone over WiFi.
Using easy to use interface teacher can mark attendance and behavior color of the student.
We can now connect students, parents and teachers with one integrated solution.
Now principal can also see trends of a certain class, teachers can use their time more effectively, parents can see child’s performance on daily basis and students can enjoy their privileged time and feel more responsible.
Everyone is Happy.
The solution can be put on cloud and range of packages and services can be developed for schools.
Following are the benefits of the system
The digital green chart can be made in different shapes and sizes to suite class needs.
Now using Digital Green Chart, teachers have more time to cover the course material and keep parents and school management happy too.
