THE PERSON I ADMIRE THE MOST
Teacher, the person I admire the most is the very well
known successful author of Harry Potter series, J.K Rowling as she
is very determined, talented and generous.
First, I admire her determination and hard work. Looking
at her today, people might not know how she had a rough start as
an author. Not only her works were rejected by many publishers,
she was once jobless and she also went through a divorce. She had
faced many challenges while having to raise her child on her own too.
She kept on writing and did not give up. She even completed her
manuscript of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by typing
on an old manual typewriter. We know that alone requires a lot of

3. hard work. Imagine having to do my 20-page assignment using the
manual typewriter. I will cry! Definitely! Not only she shows hard
work and determination to get her writing done, once the writing
was done, she was determined to get it published. Her Harry
Potter’s manuscript was sent to 12 publishing houses but all of them
rejected her work. She did not give up and kept looking for open
doors to get it published. I admire her tenacity when facing all the
rejections. I hope I can be just like her!
Second, I admire her talent. She wrote her first book at 6!
Imagine that! I am impressed that she had written a story about
a rabbit called Rabbit. Other than Harry Potter series and books
inspired by Harry Potter, she also wrote under a pseudonym. There
are many non-fiction writings of hers as well. I think I can go on

4. many awards that she had won.
Third, I admire her generosity. For someone who used to
live on charity, J.K Rowling is a living proof of rags to riches. She was
the first author who became a billionaire even though later, she lost
the status after giving away much of her earnings to charity!
Still, she remains as one of the wealthiest people in the world.
She established a charitable trust to combat poverty and social
inequality. She also raised funds to aid children and single-parent
families. Besides, she supported many other philanthropic works
ranging from helping illiterate prisoners to struggling writers and
artists. Besides spending her time helping to raise funds for
hospitals, she contributed a large sum of money to organisations
responsible for researches on multiple sclerosis. To me, many can

5. energy and ideas, it is not easy to be so benevolent. She is admirable
because she dedicated herself to help others. I hope I can be like
her and maybe I can start now.
In conclusion, the person I admire the most is J.K Rowling. To me
she has all the exemplary values that I can learn from as in life,
one cannot go wrong by being determined and generous. The only
concern I have is that I am not sure what my talent is. I hope I can
figure that out soon and later, put my talent to good use.
