1. There is silence when the production company comes up and for the writing shown. This draws the audience in
anticipation for when it will start. Non-diegetic piano music plays softly when the microphone is shown. Three angles
around the old fashioned microphone are presented. Each with credits to the side in white, standing out against the
background. At 50 seconds a long shot of the whole table and chair is shown. This shows the emptiness of the room.
Near the top right of the screen (bottom right) the film title fades in. The writing is in the style of a type writer and in
white to again stand out.
2. This close-up of his lips shows them repeating the words on his sheet and highlights how he is nervous. The non-
diegetic piano music is still playing and is very soothing which contrasts with how this man is feeling. The next shot
is a wide angled medium shot which shows the man with we assume by the body language his wife. They are stood
at the bottom of the stairs and it is clear that he must have to ascend upwards. The next couple of shots are of
people waiting for him to move upstairs and this anticipation is contrasted with the other smartly dressed man
preparing quietly to go live on radio. The screen shot below is a medium shot and the focus is on the microphone
which indicates what the man is about to use. As the man drinks he then gargles for 5 seconds – the piano music
cuts off until he has finished. This is a light hearted moment for the audience and breaks the atmosphere.
3. The close up of the mans face shows the fear in his eyes. Looking up the stairs as another man has just said ‘You’re
live in two minutes your Royal Highness’. The audience now knows who the man is. The Priest (assumed because of
his clothes) with him supports him and tells him to take his time. Behind the Priest and others is a sign saying ‘WAY
OUT’. The Royal Highness seems to be stuck in the middle between going up the stairs or leaving. Whilst the radio
host is still preparing for his show. The red light (bottom right) flashed three times before holding on red which
meant ‘live’. The last screen shot is shown in the radio host’s point of view, once again the focus is on the
microphone and everything else is blurred.
