Museum & Winter Gardens, Arts Centre Washington and The Fire Station, as well as with
communities across the city. We are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation,
and our mission is to improve life for everyone in Sunderland through culture.
Sunderland Culture brings together the investment of the 3 main funders of arts provision in
the city, Sunderland City Council, University of Sunderland and Music, Arts & Culture Trust into
a single, independent, and resilient delivery model."

Out of these locations I
have visited the Fire
Station on multiple
occasions for very
different types of shows
including a talk a music
show a recording of the
BBC Comedy Awards and
a musical this diverse
space allows for a diverse
range of shows and
performances to be shown
to their diverse range of
audiences allowing
everyone to see
something they will enjoy.
This type of venue also
allows for a venue and as
such Sunderland Culture
to reach a wide range of
audiences all in one
central location.
5. 4/17/2024
As a child I visited the Sunderland
Museum and Winter Gardens a lot.
The museum was engaging and
always had an activity along with
interactive features throughout the
museum. The interactivity element
was carried on through the winter
gardens with waterfalls learning
spaces and a fishpond however now
it doesn’t have the same appeal as
it used to. Primarily the Museum
and Winter Gardens were aimed at
children and still have quite a big
draw for Sunderland however lose
their audience around age 12.However
this year one of the locations for
the Sunderland Short Film Festival (a
BIFA rated film festival)is the museum
hopefully getting an older age
demographic interested again in the
museum.
6. Evaluation
Sunderland culture is an organisation that celebrates Sunderland and its
people from art to music dance and theatre Sunderland culture support not
only the venues but events and the people who attend. With links to the local
university, they aim to inspire a new generation of the arts and provide
opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them. With a mission to
"improve life for everyone in Sunderland through culture" it means that
everyone even groups of people who may have been cast out before are
welcomed and encouraged to get into the arts and join a community of like-
minded people in their local area.
8. WHAT IS BRIGHT LIGHTS: NORTHERN TALENT ART
EXHIBITION
The bright lights youth art exhibition is where young people get to
showcase their work where otherwise it may not have been seen or
noticed. Run alongside the exhibition in the Arts center Washington is a
week of free workshops, performances and screenings with a target age
demographic of 11–19-year-olds. With workshops such as photography,
stop motion animation, youth theatre character design, music and
storytelling just to name a few it allows for any young person to try a new
thing that could develop into something so much more.

Client Evaluation
Looking on the client as a whole there is a constant theme of engaging
young people in the arts and engaging them in getting involved in their
local communities. In order to make a successful product for the client
this is a theme that I will strive to continue throughout my work in order
to not only cater for their audience, but the audience set out in the brief.
10. OVERALL EVALUATION
4/17/2024
The client as a whole appears to have a target age
demographic of young people primarily aged 5-18 however,
they cater for all ages. Their main aim is to get the people of
Sunderland engaged in the arts whether its music, fine art,
photography, film, theatre or any other art type. For local
especially young people to attend their prices are usually low
if not free providing a space for everyone to be able to access
the arts. The focus on engaging young people in the arts and
to continue their interest through their life is something that I
will keep in mind for my project as although I am catering my
product to a specific age demographic, I want it to be enjoyed
by everyone.
