2. INTRODUCTION
I had two choices to either make a documentary
or a short film, I have chosen to do a
documentary as I’d love to show off others
passions towards music and embrace it to my
audience who also fell in love with music.
Setting it in Sunderland city, so it won't be too
far to travel for my audience (if based in
northeast), this would also give them an idea of
where to get coaches/trains to travel to attend
concerts or other music related events. I am
hoping from my documentary, viewers are able
to see what they can achieve such as performing
and getting to see they’re idols live. From the
Bright Lights campaign, I learned they include
young people from the Northeast to display
their talents and showcase them to the public
whether that is anonymously or showing their
identity. They had included different
communities, religion, culture and
environments that those were wanting to
embrace as it makes them who they are.
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
AUDIENCE
PROFILE
I learned from my research into my audience that the majority are in fact
music lovers, making this documentary very suitable for them. For music
lovers that tend to only listen to a few genres may be able to explore a
bit more from this documentary and expand their listening. I also
realised some struggle with travelling so making that a bit more easier
should help them just that little bit more. I also found out that I will have
to show off local music businesses, this is so the public can get merch
they have been finding hard to find or simply just to find a new place to
get their music from.
4. RESEARCH FROM
OTHER PRODUCTS
I researched into a few music documentaries to make sure I
understood exactly how I want to present my own documentary.
Although these documentaries aren’t really what I am doing I am still
taking inspiration from them. The documentaries I researched into
were,
• Blackpink ‘light up the sky’
• Ariana Grande ‘excuse me, I love you’
• Tomorrow x together ‘our lost summer’
In them, they talk and show various things, like backstage, how it
feels to be an idol, the practice, etc.. The idols also talk about their
passion for music which really took inspiration to see how music love
is put into their music and towards music too.
5. My idea is surrounding music, I want my
audience to show just how exciting concerts
can make someone feel. Showing where to get
trains/busses/coaches when travelling to
concerts. Whilst going to the locations of these
transports, you will most likely pass a couple
music stores, so I will also be making sure to
include them, this is just in case anyone is
wanting to buy any merch or want to have a
scan through their collections. Interviewing
those who love music and asking their opinion
on certain topics. And finally showing a concert
to show off the experience someone could have.
I thought about what I would name my
documentary, taking inspiration from favourite
songs:
• “all or nothing” music documentary
• “a book of memories” music documentary
• “stardust love” music documentary
• “just one day” music documentary
These titles give off a type of pretty and
positive vibe which is what I wanted to
achieve.
Sticking with this title as
I feel like it would suit
the documentary the
best.
6. WHY IS MY IDEA GOOD?
My idea is good as it will provide
entertainment as well as
education for when it comes to
going to concerts. I think a lot of
concerts are starting to happen
again, some may find it difficult
to find ways to get there and will
find the documentary quite
useful. Newer and older music
may be hard for someone who
doesn’t know the right stores to
get them from too, so also
focusing on them can maybes
help the audience out too.
