4. Definition of Believer
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those
conscious of Allah -
Those who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out
of what We have provided for them,
And who believe in (the Quran and the Sunnah) which has been revealed to
you (Muhammad )ﷺ and in [the Torah and the Injeel, etc.] which were sent
down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter.
(Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).

9. • [Ibrahim said:] “My Lord! Make me and my descendants people who establish salat. My Lord!
Accept my prayer.” (Surah Ibrahim, 40)
• Mention Isma‘il in the Book. He was true to his promise and was a messenger and a prophet. He
used to command his people to do salat and give the alms and he was pleasing to his Lord. (Surah
Maryam, 54-55)
• - For Prophet Musa (as): I am Allah. There is no god but Me, so worship Me and establish salat to
remember Me. (Surah Ta Ha, 14)
• Maryam, obey your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow. (Surah al ‘Imran, 43)
• Prophet Isa (as) said: “I am the servant of Allah, He has given me the Book and made me a
prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am and directed me to do salat and give the alms as
long as I live.” (Surah Maryam, 30-31)
• Jesus, in the garden of Gethsamne, took a few steps forward, fell on his face and prayed to God".
(Matthew 26:39)
• “And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and did worship.” [Joshua 5:14]
• “And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground and all Judah and the inhabitants of
Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.” [Chronicles 20:18]
History of SALAT (PRAYER)
10. Revelation:
1st revelation – Surah Alaq (96:19 {Prostate})
3rd revelation Surah Muzammil (73:20) - He was given the command to perform salat every night.
It was prescribed in the heavens during the magnificent journey (al-Isra wa al-Miraj)
Allah (SWT) spoke to Prophet ﷺ in a manner suiting His Majesty and gave him this
command without anyone else there. So, it’s a divine link.
Qiblah
Prophet ﷺ prayed towards the direction of Jerusalem for almost 15 years.
2nd year after Hijra revelation came
And We made the qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test
those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad) from those who would turn on their heels. [Al
Baqarah 2:143]
Many a time We have seen you turn your face towards heaven. We will make you turn towards a
'qiblah' that will please you. (Surah al-Baqarah, 2:144)

11. The Best Of All Deeds Of Worship
"The first deeds for which the Muslim servant (of Allah) will be held accountable on the
Day of Judgment will be the obligatory prayers. If he fulfilled them, (he will have
prospered and been successful). But if not, it will be said, 'See if he has any voluntary
prayers with which may be completed that which was wanting in his obligatory prayers.‘
Then the rest of his obligatory deeds will be judged in like fashion.“ (Tirmidi)
“Successful indeed are the believers, those who offer their salaah (prayers)
with all solemnity and full submissiveness.” [Al-Mu’minoon 23:1-2]
“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then
(answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to
the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator
or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be
rightly guided.” [Al-Baqarah 2:186]
12. Times of Salat
Surah An-Nisa:103 –
“Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.”
Perform the salat at the earliest of its time.
1. The Morning Prayer – FAJR – It is preferred to perform the morning prayer early in its time
2. The Noon prayer – DHUHR –
3. The Afternoon/MIDDLE prayer – ASR –
• “Guard strictly the prayers, especially the middle prayer. And stand before Allah
with obedience.” (Qur'an 2: 238)
• "The one who abandons the Aftemoon prayer has had his deeds voided.” (Bukhari)
4. The Sunset prayer – MAGHRIB - It is preferred to pray the sunset prayer immediately
5. The Night prayer – ISHA - "The time of the Night prayer is until half the night.” (Muslim)
