The objective of the Test :
1) Determine the amount of freon that is being adsorbed by a
calibrated amount of silica gel at different temperature.
2) Draw PTX diagram.
The components of the Test:
1: Vacuum pump.
2: Water tank.
3:Refrigeration Cell.
4: Adsorption Bed.
5:Refrigerant Cylinder.
6:Pressure gauge.
7:Electronic Balance.
8:Thermocouples.
9: Water circulator.
10: valves
The Steps of the Test:
1) Determine the amount of silica gel and insert it into the Adsorption
Bed.
2) Connect the Adsorption Bed to a vacuum pump and raise the
temperature of the Adsorption Bed to make sure the silica gel is dry.
• This is done by opening valve 1 and closing valve 2 & 3.

3) Discharge the circuit from the air completely.
• This is done by opening valve 1 & 2 and closing 3

3) Charge refrigeration cell by closing valve 1 & 2 and opening valve 3 .

4) Determine the weight of Adsorption Bed using Electronic Balance and
then place it in the water tank and Open valve 2 between Adsorption
Bed and Refrigeration Cell and close 1 & 3.

5) Determine the weight of
Adsorption Bed after testing
to determine the amount of
freon absorbed.
The Steps of the Test:
6) Use the thermocouple and pressure gauge to find out
the temperature for both Adsorption Bed and
Refrigeration Cell.
7) The test repeats at different temperatures for the
Adsorption Bed.

1: Performance evaluation of adsorption cooling
system.
2: Studying effect of Tc,Te,Tg.

1: Two adsorbent beds.

3:Evaporator.
