A. Routinary Activities
Prayer:
Please stand for our prayer to be led
by__________.
Greetings:
Good morning class!
How are you feeling today?
Good to hear that.
Kindly arrange your chairs properly
and check if there are any pieces of
trash around you. Please properly
(Prayer)
Good morning, ma’am!
Great ma’am!
Yes, Ma’am.
dispose it inside the trash can to
maintain classroom cleanliness.
Checking of Attendance:
I’m going to check your attendance.
Please say present when your name is
called.
Last meeting, I gave you an
assignment, please pass your
assignments in front.
B. Recall:
In our previous meeting, we discussed
about the Earth’s Natural Resources. Again
class, what is resources?
Definitely! what is the difference of
Renewable and Non-renewable
Resources?
Yes, Jessica?
Excellent!
(Passing of assignments)
Ma’am, resources are the things that we need to sustain
our daily needs in order to survive.
Renewable resources are materials that can be replaced
easily or have the potential to be replaced over time while
the Non – Renewable Resources are natural resources
that are in limited supply or once used, it cannot be
replaced, ma’am.
C. Motivation:
This morning we are going to play “4 pics
1 word”. I will be flashing 4 pictures and
below these pictures are scrambled letters
which you will arrange in order to form 1
word that represents the pictures. The first
to raise the correct answer earns 5 points.
The group with the greatest number of
points wins the game. HEIGHT TEMPERATURE
ATMOSPHERE
D. Presentation of Topic
Based on the activity, what are the words
that you discovered?
Today we will discuss about the layers of
the atmosphere.
E. Lesson Proper
Study the graph below and answer the
following questions that follow. In doing
your activity, stay quiet and focus on your
own work.
Understood class?
(Students will do the activity for 5
minutes.)
(Students will present their output in front.)
Q1. What are the five layers of the Atmosphere?
Estimate the height of each layer.
Correct! Based on the graph, the five layers of the
atmosphere starting from the ground or Earth’s
The words that we discovered are height, temperature
and atmosphere, ma’am.
Yes, Ma’am!
Yes, ma’am.
(Students will do the activity with teacher’s supervision)
Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere
Thermosphere and Exosphere, Ma’am.
surface are: Troposphere, Stratosphere,
Mesosphere Thermosphere and Exosphere.
Q2. Describe the graph in each layer.
Yes, jian?
Good! The temperature in Troposphere decreases
as the altitude increases. How about the second
layer?
Correct! In stratosphere the temperature increases
as the altitude increases.
How about in the mesosphere?
Yes, Jessica?
Exactly! The thermosphere?
The temperature and altitude in the Thermosphere
increase.
What about in the fifth layer? Yes, earl?
Correct!
Q3. In which layer of the temperature increasing
with increasing altitude?
Precisely!
Q4. In which layer is temperature decreasing with
increasing altitude?
Bravo!
Q5. What is the relationship between temperature
and height in the?
Troposphere? Stratosphere? Mesosphere?
Thermosphere? Exosphere?
Excellent!
Q6. Observe the whole graph, what is the basis for
the divisions of Earth’s atmosphere?
In Troposphere, the temperature decreases as the
altitude increases, Ma’am.
Ma’am, in the Stratosphere, the temperature increases.
Ma’am, in the Mesosphere, the temperature decreases as
the height increases.
In the Thermosphere, the temperature increases as the
height.
Ma’am, the Exosphere increases in temperature as the
altitude.
The layer where the temperature increasing with
increasing altitude is the stratosphere, Ma’am.
The layer that is where the temperature decreasing with
increasing altitude is the Troposphere, Ma’am.
Troposphere and Mesosphere:as the altitude increases,
the temperature DECREASES, Ma’am.
Stratosphere and Thermosphere: as the altitude
increases, the temp. Also INCREASES, Ma’am.
Ma’am, the layers of the Earth’s atmosphere is divided
based on temperature differences.
Q7. From the graph, can you generalize that the
higher the layer of the atmosphere the hotter the
temperature?
Exactly! The higher layer of the atmosphere that is
close to the sun are the thermosphere and the
exosphere.
Q8. What other information about earth
atmosphere can you derive from the graph?
Very good, angel!
A round of applause for everyone.
2. Read the succeeding paragraphs and think of a
way to organize and summarize the data about the
atmosphere from the graph and information in the
discussion.
The graph shows that the closer the atmospheric layer
that is close to the sun, the hotter the temperature are the
thermosphere and exosphere, Ma’am.
Ma’am, the graph is not constant because each layer of
the atmosphere varies on their temperature.

G. APPLICATION:
Do you want to know why the weather in baguio is
cold and yet it is called ‘Summer Capital of the
Philippines?’
The City of Baguio is located high up in the
mountains in the province of Benguet, Luzon.
Owing to its high elevation, the temperature is 8
degrees Celsius lower compared to the average
temperature of the rest of the country and the
pressure is low. That's why Baguio is really cold
IV. Generalization:
Again, what are the layers of the atmosphere?
Very Good!
And what is the basis for the division of the
layers?
Valuing: Knowing Layers of the Atmosphere is
important because it protects and sustains our
planet’s inhabitants by providing warmth and
absorbing harmful solar rays.
Is there any questions class?
V. Evaluation:
Since you already know what the concept of this
lesson, I want to assure if all of you understand what
we tackled about earlier. Prepare ¼ sheet of paper
I’ll give you a short quiz.

Performance Standard: Analyze the advantages of location of the Philippines in relation to climate, weather, and seasons. I. Learning Competency: Discuss how energy from the sun interacts with the layers of the atmosphere (S7ES-IVd-5) II. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to;  identify the layers of the atmosphere;  describe the features of each layer of the atmosphere and  explain the basis for the division of the layers of the atmosphere SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Layers of the Atmosphere B. References: Science Grade 7 Teacher Guide: pp. 301-303 Science Grade 7 Learner Guide: pp. 312- 313 C. Materials: Laptop, Visual Aids, pictures, short play, power point presentation. III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY A. Routinary Activities Prayer: Please stand for our prayer to be led by__________. Greetings: Good morning class! How are you feeling today? Good to hear that. Kindly arrange your chairs properly and check if there are any pieces of trash around you. Please properly (Prayer) Good morning, ma’am! Great ma’am! Yes, Ma’am.
  • 2. dispose it inside the trash can to maintain classroom cleanliness. Checking of Attendance: I’m going to check your attendance. Please say present when your name is called. Last meeting, I gave you an assignment, please pass your assignments in front. B. Recall: In our previous meeting, we discussed about the Earth’s Natural Resources. Again class, what is resources? Definitely! what is the difference of Renewable and Non-renewable Resources? Yes, Jessica? Excellent! (Passing of assignments) Ma’am, resources are the things that we need to sustain our daily needs in order to survive. Renewable resources are materials that can be replaced easily or have the potential to be replaced over time while the Non – Renewable Resources are natural resources that are in limited supply or once used, it cannot be replaced, ma’am. C. Motivation: This morning we are going to play “4 pics 1 word”. I will be flashing 4 pictures and below these pictures are scrambled letters which you will arrange in order to form 1 word that represents the pictures. The first to raise the correct answer earns 5 points. The group with the greatest number of points wins the game. HEIGHT TEMPERATURE ATMOSPHERE
  • 3. D. Presentation of Topic Based on the activity, what are the words that you discovered? Today we will discuss about the layers of the atmosphere. E. Lesson Proper Study the graph below and answer the following questions that follow. In doing your activity, stay quiet and focus on your own work. Understood class? (Students will do the activity for 5 minutes.) (Students will present their output in front.) Q1. What are the five layers of the Atmosphere? Estimate the height of each layer. Correct! Based on the graph, the five layers of the atmosphere starting from the ground or Earth’s The words that we discovered are height, temperature and atmosphere, ma’am. Yes, Ma’am! Yes, ma’am. (Students will do the activity with teacher’s supervision) Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere Thermosphere and Exosphere, Ma’am.
  • 4. surface are: Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere Thermosphere and Exosphere. Q2. Describe the graph in each layer. Yes, jian? Good! The temperature in Troposphere decreases as the altitude increases. How about the second layer? Correct! In stratosphere the temperature increases as the altitude increases. How about in the mesosphere? Yes, Jessica? Exactly! The thermosphere? The temperature and altitude in the Thermosphere increase. What about in the fifth layer? Yes, earl? Correct! Q3. In which layer of the temperature increasing with increasing altitude? Precisely! Q4. In which layer is temperature decreasing with increasing altitude? Bravo! Q5. What is the relationship between temperature and height in the? Troposphere? Stratosphere? Mesosphere? Thermosphere? Exosphere? Excellent! Q6. Observe the whole graph, what is the basis for the divisions of Earth’s atmosphere? In Troposphere, the temperature decreases as the altitude increases, Ma’am. Ma’am, in the Stratosphere, the temperature increases. Ma’am, in the Mesosphere, the temperature decreases as the height increases. In the Thermosphere, the temperature increases as the height. Ma’am, the Exosphere increases in temperature as the altitude. The layer where the temperature increasing with increasing altitude is the stratosphere, Ma’am. The layer that is where the temperature decreasing with increasing altitude is the Troposphere, Ma’am. Troposphere and Mesosphere:as the altitude increases, the temperature DECREASES, Ma’am. Stratosphere and Thermosphere: as the altitude increases, the temp. Also INCREASES, Ma’am. Ma’am, the layers of the Earth’s atmosphere is divided based on temperature differences.
  • 5. Q7. From the graph, can you generalize that the higher the layer of the atmosphere the hotter the temperature? Exactly! The higher layer of the atmosphere that is close to the sun are the thermosphere and the exosphere. Q8. What other information about earth atmosphere can you derive from the graph? Very good, angel! A round of applause for everyone. 2. Read the succeeding paragraphs and think of a way to organize and summarize the data about the atmosphere from the graph and information in the discussion. The graph shows that the closer the atmospheric layer that is close to the sun, the hotter the temperature are the thermosphere and exosphere, Ma’am. Ma’am, the graph is not constant because each layer of the atmosphere varies on their temperature. Layer Estimated distance from the ground Estimated temperatur e Relationship between temperatur e and altitude Events happening in the layer. Troposp here About 10 km Temperatur e decreases 6.5 degree Celsius to - 60Degree As altitude increases, temperature decreases. Cloud Formation and weather occur. Stratosp here 50 km Temperatur e increases from -51 Degree Celsius to - 15 C Temperature increasesas the altitude increases. Formation of ozone Molecules Mesosp here Between 50 km to 80 km. Average temperature of 90 Degrees. Temperature increasesas the altitude decreases. Burning of meteors occur Thermo sphere Between 80 km to 110km. 1000 Degree Celsius. • 6. G. APPLICATION: Do you want to know why the weather in baguio is cold and yet it is called ‘Summer Capital of the Philippines?’ The City of Baguio is located high up in the mountains in the province of Benguet, Luzon. Owing to its high elevation, the temperature is 8 degrees Celsius lower compared to the average temperature of the rest of the country and the pressure is low. That's why Baguio is really cold IV. Generalization: Again, what are the layers of the atmosphere? Very Good! And what is the basis for the division of the layers? Valuing: Knowing Layers of the Atmosphere is important because it protects and sustains our planet’s inhabitants by providing warmth and absorbing harmful solar rays. Is there any questions class? V. Evaluation: Since you already know what the concept of this lesson, I want to assure if all of you understand what we tackled about earlier. Prepare ¼ sheet of paper I’ll give you a short quiz. Direction: Choose the correct answer. 1). Identify the five layers of the atmosphere 2). The layer of the atmosphere where meteors and rock fragments melt. a. Mesosphere b. Thermosphere c.
