Yang Ming

1. Optimize cost structure analysis. sign sufficient contracts to ensure

3. For the previous 10 years, I have been cultivating my expertise in supply chain management by work
experience, school education and various trainings. I have been starting my career in Yang Ming Transportation
Corporation as marketing specialist and accounts sales for 3.5 years, acquiring NCTU MBA degree focusing on
supply chain management, work for Acer 5 years as a senior logistics specialist in supply chain management, and
entered Texas Instrument as a Pacific Distribution center manager.
After graduating from university in 2004, I started my career as a market specialist in Yang Ming
Transportation Corp. due to high interests in logistics. My main job function is coordinating with sales, making a
marketing strategy for achieving maximum occupation of container spaces and negotiating a quarterly contract with
global customers. After one year hard work, I was promoted to Yes Logistics in Yang Ming Group. as a logistics
sales specialist. My new position includes much more challenging tasks such as offering an integrated logistics
service and supporting customers in expanding overseas markets. To fulfill various customer requirements around
the globe, I was trained to handle custom clearance, establish overseas warehouse service, and managing inland
distribution. I have earned over a million dollars of profit for the company annually. The most challenging task in
Yes Logistics was establishing Rotterdam warehouse and designing customized inland distribution routes for
Europe channels. Having a diverse experience from converging bar-codes to planning large machinery transport
routes, I had a more global viewpoint and a strengthened communication ability.
To build up expertise in SCM, I pursued certificates in both International Trade Expertise Training and
Logistician Training courses held by SOLE. After three years in Yang Ming, I attended MBA program of Chiao Tung
University, focusing in SCM. I took advanced statistics courses to analyze more efficient logistics solutions logically
and participate business program in University of Victoria and had good chances to cooperate with international
students with different colors and cultures. Right after my graduation from NCTU, I joined Acer Supply Chain
department since 2009.
As a logistic specialist, I closely co-work with ODM suppliers and logistic vendors. My preliminary target is to
manage logistics flows within key ODM accounts to maximize company’s interest. In order to manage, I need to be
familiar with vendor’s capacity and work flows, e.g. output schedules, factory production stage’s lead time, complex
module capacity, VMI warehouse spaces and export schedule. Also, managing logistic suppliers to serve Acer with
sufficient capacity at right timing, collaboration with ODM accounts is one of the focuses. One key duty is to keep
accurate forecasts and balance supply/demand in great fluctuation since it’s crucial for NB industry. To ensure
efficient collaboration of ODM and logistics suppliers to meet company sales demand and schedules, I was trained
not only to be familiar of factory outputs, in means of accurate time and quantity, but also with forwarder capabilities,
such as customs operation lead time and regulations in China. My experience in Yang Ming provides strong support
to manage logistic processes and set up procedures and implement improvements in ODM suppliers. During daily
communications with key vendors, I ensure buy-and-sale material receiving, output schedules and final departure
dates to fulfill customer required delivery dates.
As the company strategy of moving to China west since 2011, I am the representative for Acer in Chongqing. I not
only do physical audits with key vendors, but also communicate with CQ government for subsidy. By the chance, I
am in higher level to set up whole supply chain with government in CQ, and delivery Acer’s demand to make CQ to
be a new NB production center with sufficient logistics equipment, efficient airport and customs. The most valuable
part of this expatriate is implement several block trains via new rail way from CQ to Europe, and communicate with
local government to achieve my goal.
4. After 5 years in Acer, I persuade a higher position in Texas Instrument as export manager. I manage the export
operation for the assembly test factory in TI Taiwan, and the direct report is 3 to 4 staffs. As the company strategy
change, WW decide to build a new PDC in Taiwan and I have been chosen to be the champion for this project. We
have used 9 months to complete the bidding for facility and operators, and complete the network setup, equipment
calibration for smooth run of operation. After 9 months, I have been the Pacific Distribution manager which is a
global position and closely work with WW planner and customer to make sure the assurance of supply for each
order in order to build up the revenue recognition for TI. As PDC manager, I am fully hands on daily operations
Worldwide financial and CTPAT audits, process optimization among suppliers and sub-cons, customs management.
The most challenging is people management, I have 4 direct report and 35 indirect report staffs inside PDC. The
function covers receiving, inventory, pick& pack, invoicing, and trade compliance. I have quickly cultivated different
leaders in each function to support management of outsourced suppliers. My quick response and clear direction
earns the mutual trust from leaders, and often do one on one review and share my knowledge of operation make
sure operation is on a right track. I not only led the team to meet the KPI, but also made the PDC to be the one with
zero complaints from direct customers since start up.
All the experiences in my previous occupation, academic and expatriate nourished me as a person with problem
solving abilities and global viewpoints. I believe that my working experiences, MBA knowledge, and high interested
in SCM would be beneficial for my future career.
