Personal Profile
I am a Social Worker (First Class BA Hons), BIA and Specialist Advisor Inspector for
CQC.I have over thirty years of broad experience within the Social Care Sector,
including care home and domiciliary care management. I specialise in the following
areas: Assessment and Care-planning, including Continuing Healthcare Joint
Assessments, Adult Social Care Assessments, Safeguarding, Support- Planning and
Best Interest Decision Making. I undertake compliance work as a Freelance
Specialist Adviser to the Care Quality Commission for Adult Social Care, and
previously as a Bank Inspector for CQC. I have been awarded Level Three Award in
Education and Training, and have recently completed an Award in Leadership and
management (ILM). I deliver training in Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of
Liberty Safeguards to a range of stakeholders. I also have Previous collaborations
with the College of Social Work for BIA programme Endorsement, and with the
University of Birmingham for Social Work Practice.
Achievements
Appointed by Baroness Finlay, to the National Mental Capacity Forum, for leadership
and Implementation of the Mental Capacity Act.
Developed MCA Best Practice and resources for a Care Home Project.
Delivered MCA and DoLS training presentations to a range of stakeholders and co-
produced video resources hosted on Social Care Institute for Excellence.
Successfully implemented an MCA Project funded by NHS England.
Successfully acquired funding for a learning tool around Hoarding Disorder.

Freelance Specialist Advisory work with CQC Inspections, to ensure compliance with
duties of Regulated Activities in compliance with the Health and Social Care Act
2008. The production of inspections suitable for publication, and for lawfully
compliant inspection outcomes. Partnership work with users of services, families and
representing professionals to ensure safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led
care provision. This role is balanced with sub-stantive post by using annual leave.
