-1895-98: stay in USA; influenced by theories of Louis Sullivan who stated in
the paper „Ornament in architecture“ (1885) that ornament should be
ommitted for some years because ornament would disturb the relation
between function, form, material and expression.
-Loos began to refuse ornament totally: „Ornament and Crime“.
-Loos: Architect should not design ground plans, facades or sections but
spaces >
by dimensioning the single rooms according to their functional and
representative meaning > interpenetrating spaces connected by staircases
(House Moller, Vienna 1928; House Müller, Prague 1929-30)
