about verbs.
19. BIRTHSTONES
Superstitions about precious stones originated during early times. Anyone who wore
any of these stones was supposed to become strong and brave. There were those
believed that when worn, these stones protect the bearer from fire and lightning.
many believed that they were supposed to bring good luck and good fortune.
Our present beliefs about birthstones were based on these old superstitions.
a birthstone is believed to bring good fortune especially when it is given by
somebody as a present.
Almost everybody nowadays do appreciate wearing birthstones. Although not
everyone agrees on what particular birthstone is intended for each month, there is a
grouping often followed in connection with birthstones. There are calendars that
include the different birthstones for each month. We take interest in reading the
meaning of birthstones in our horoscopes. For who would not want to be protected
and helped by his particular birthstone?
20. Divide the class into 4 groups. I will provide a
paper with an essay and a cartolina.
In a paper is an essay and you will distinguish
which are verbs.
You will write your answers on the cartolina.
The team with the most correct answers will
win.
21. Let us generalize….
• A verb is a word that expresses a state or being.
• Also known as linking verbs.
• Action verbs and linking verbs are strong enough to be
used in sentences, they are called main verbs.
23. Assignment:
In a ½ sheet of pad paper, cross-wise.
Write 5 sentences about your household
chores or the things you do at home.
Encircle all the verbs in the sentences.
