1. Comparing conventions of my film
with real life examples.

the Punch' [WTTP]
2. When developing my idea into a film, I took the
opportunity to look into art-house stylised films and
see if I could use any of the conventions within them.
I especially focused on 'Welcome to the Punch', a
crime/drama with elements of mystery. In the
opening sequence the protagonist is shown as
separate from the antagonist even as he chases the
other down. Long wide angled shots show the
protagonist in complete isolation. This was
something I wanted to push forward into our film,
especially with the park and tunnel scenes. Doing
this meant I matched the conventions of the genre.
3. Although we ended up editing this shot
down to less than a second, I wanted to
have the three main characters of our
film placed in a similar way to in 'WTTP'.
I found that this was a convention in
which the protagonist would be place in
an uncomfortable situation before being
left. In our film I tried to merge this idea
by placing this shot in the climax of the
film.
4. When choosing a design for my poster, I continued
to look at the film 'WTTP' especially the mystery
fuelled opening sequence, for inspiration. I liked
the idea of our protagonist running down a tunnel
and found that in our final location I had the perfect
opportunity to use this. There is a similarity
between my final poster and the sceenshot below
although I switched the placement of light, and had
our protagonist lit up, whilst where he is walking to
is dark.
