Lavana kalpana definition
The pharmaceutical preparations in which th lavana and the
selected aushadha dravya are ignited together in a closed
samputa to obtain the drug ash as medicinal product is called
as lavana Kalpana
5. Method of preparation
• A mature coconut devoid of outer fibrous part is taken
• A hole is made inte to one of its eyes and fill the powdered
saindhava lavana up to the brim
• The hole is closed with a cork or chalk piece
• The coconut is covered with clay smeared cloth for three
layers
• It is dried and subjected to puta with 10 to 15 cow dung cakes
• After cooling,the charred kernel and salt are collected
together , powdered and preserved
• The product will be odourless saline tasting fine powder
Dosage is 1 to 2 gms along with pipali churna followed by warm
water.it is indicated in vataja,pittaja,kaphaja,sannipataja
parinama shula
7. Method of preparation
• A sharava of appropriate size is selected
• In it alternate layers of arka patra and saindhava lavana are
evnly spread
• The lowermost and upper most layer should be of arka patra
• The sharava is vovered with another sharava and is sealed
• This sharava samputa is subjected to one gajaputa
• After self cooling it is opened and the the drug material inside
the sharava is taken and triturated in khalva yantra
• Its colour will be fine blackish and saline in taste
• Dosage is 4 to 8 ratti of medicine once or twice daily along with
dadhimastu

Kritrima lavana nirmana
1. Vida lavana
Requirements :
1. Romaka lavana – 28 sera (2.2kg)
2. Dry amalaki churna – 50 tola (600gms)
• The romaka lavana is taken in clean khalva yantra and
triturated
• It is added with dry and fine powder of amalaki and is
triturated further to get homogenous mixture
• Now a strong mud pot with narrow mouth is selected and is
covered with 7 layers of mud smeared cloth
9. • In this pot the quarter part of the triturated mixture is taken and
the pot is subjected to intense heat of 2 hours
• When the base of pot start looking red hot all the remaining
powder is also added little by little and heating is continued for
another 6 hours
• After stopping the heat ,aloow it to self cool
• Later the drug material in pot is collected and stored in suitable
container as vida lavana
10. Souvarchala lavana – method of preparation
• 4 pala of sarja ksara is taken in a clean mud pot and is added
with 8 pala of clean water
• This mixture is now added with little by little of saindhava lavana
until the saturation point is reached
• Later the vessel is placed over intense heat and boiled to
evaporate all the liquid part
• After complete evaporation of water the vessel is left on fire for
some more time to ascertain the complete water loss
• Later the vessel is taken out from fire and the salt inside is
collected and stored in suitable container as souvarchala lavana
