2. INTRODUCTION
o Teacher can make their classes really intriguing and more significant for
the students by utilizing a few articles or material to help their verbal
depictions.
o TLM becomes fundamental to having a superior comprehension of the
nature pf the subject matter.
o Teacher often use different learning and language tools and techniques to
make learning captivating and impart quality education.
o To make the learning more effective, teachers can take the assistance of
teaching –learning materials.
o In this article, we will bring to you everything that you need to know about
teaching learning material and more.
o Teaching learning material is also called instructional material.

3. Definitions of Teaching- Learning Marterial
o Teaching- learning material are the devices which can be used to make the
teaching learning experience more concrete, more realistic and more dynamic.
o Teaching- learning material are those sensory objects or Images which Initiate
or stimulate and reinforce learning.
Principles of Teaching-Learning Material
o TLM should function as an integral part of the educational program.
o The cost of TLM should be reasonable and within the limit.
o TLM should help in providing the required multi sensory experience.
o Make provision for application in real life and demonstrate relevance.
o Ensure the promotion of links between content, concepts, knowledge and
understanding.
o Be sensitive to any biases., encourage integration and promote active, hands
or experiences.

5. Meaning of Teaching Material
Education is an integral part of the society. Everyone must get an education
and teaching students is not an easy profession and even to get knowledge is not
easy as it sounds. So, teaching aids are necessary today. It promotes students to
learn and engage them in learning in various engaging ways. The meaning of
teaching aids in a tool that helps to understand both are them.

o Maps

o Models. These are the example of teaching aids.
Classification of Teaching Aids
Different list of teaching aids classified as follows:-
1. Traditional Teaching Aids:-
Traditional teaching aids includes learning through Books, Periodicals,
Blackboard etc.
2. Visual Teaching Aids:-
Visual Teaching aids include posters, model, figure, chart, graph etc.
It also includes graphics such as diagrams, cut-outs, globe, objects, cartoon,
infographs , bulletin board, flannel board, picture, map and others.

Mechanical teaching aids include an Audio teaching machine, tape
recorder, radio, motion picture Projector, epidiascope, filmstrips.
4. Audio-Visual Teaching Aids:-
This type of teaching aid includes video, cassettes, Films, television,
and others.
5. Visual Material Teaching Aids:-
Outline charts, organization charts, tabular charts, flow charts etc. are
also used in visual material teaching aids.

8. 1. Visual Aids
Teaching aids which include learning through visual representation is
called visual aids. Visual aids are the kind of material that we can see with
our eyes.
Examples
 Ground substance:- The student inspects and examine by touching
and observing matter, which develops the students senses, development
of his thinking, understanding and observing power.
 Model:- When the actual substance cannot be brought into the
classroom or it is not available then teachers prepare it’s sample or model
which is shown in the classroom. So that the students can easily be
explained.
 Image:- Pictures affect students very much students are lost in reality by
seeing pictures, so teachers also present any story or science or any other
subject related picture to the students so that they can be shown

 Map:- When we have to teach the students about historical events and
geographical elements or places.
 Sketch:- When we do not have any real substance or model or map.
In such conditions we show students by drawing a drawing or sketch
on a whiteboard.
 Graph:- When he has to show any increasing or decreasing pattern.
 Bulletin Board:- Where students displays pictures, villages, figures, articles
or essential information.
2.Audio Aids:-
This teaching aid target to enhance the listening and communication
skills of the students. There are some students in every classroom who are
auditory learners, such students can get benefit with audio aids.

 Radio:- Through Radio, children are informed about the latest happenings
and information. Radio which develops the ability of the students learning,
listening , understanding and remembering as well.
 Tape Recorder:- Tape recorder is a popular tool in the education world,
with the help of a tape recorder, students can enjoy and learn through
speeches of great leaders, poem and music etc.
 Teleconferencing:- Teleconferencing is a medium through which many
schools can be linked together. Different teachers and different children can
gain important information by talking through teleconferencing.
3. Audio – Visual Aids
Technology has developed and enhanced the experience of students
with the addition of Audio – Visual educational aids.
 Films:- It is more useful than other mediums because students can learn well
by watching and listening. By showing movies, documentaries,

11. And films, children can be easily given knowledge of different countries, places,
events.
 Television:- In todays modern era, television broadcasts many types of
educational programs in addition to entertainment programs to increase the
knowledge of children.
 Computer:- With help of this electronic devices, the education world has got
a golden opportunity of learning. The use of computers can be seen not only in
the education world but also in different areas of their life.

Everyone has understanding, resources, and interests on which to build.
Teachers have acritical role in assisting learners to engage their
understanding, building on learners understanding, correcting misconceptions,
and observing and engaging with learner during the processes of learning.
Teaching and Learning can be more effective if educational materials,
software, lessons plans, etc., are freely shared among educators to use and
adopt. Learning design applies these concepts to teaching and learning
processes.
