2. INTEL SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH (INTEL STS)
INTEL STS known for its first 57 years as the
Westinghouse Science Talent Search.
It is a research based science competition in the united
states for high school seniors.
“The nation’s oldest and most prestigious” science
competition.
George w bush called the competition the “Super Bowl
of science”
Entrants to the competition conduct original research.
The selection process is highly competitive, and
besides the research paper, essays , test scores, extra
curricular activities may be factored in the selection.
3. GOOGLE SCIENCE FAIR
The Google Science Fair is an online science
competition sponsored by Google, Lego, Virgin
Galactic, National Geographic and scientific.
First announced in January 2011.
The competition is open to 13 to 18 yr old students
around the globe, who formulate a hypothesis, perform
an experiment, and present their results.
The projects must be in English, German , Italian,
Spanish, French.
4. The final submission must include ten sections, which
are the summary, an “About Me” page, the steps of the
project, and a works cited page.
Entries are judged on eight core criteria, which include
the student’s presentation, question, hypothesis,
research, experiment, data, observations ad conclusion.
Prizes are awarded to 3 finalists.
The grand prize includes a National Geographic /trip
to the Galapagos, a US $50,000 scholarship, and an
“experience” at a sponsoring organization. Finalists will
receive a US $25,000 scholarship and assorted packages
form sponsoring organizations.
5. KERALA TEACHERS ELIGIBILITY TEST
(KTET)
Government of Kerala will conduct KTET.
Also known as Kerala TET, as per the formalities
laid down by the central regulating authorities.
Kerala TET is for the candidates aspiring to
become teachers in primary and Upper primary
schools in the state of Kerala.
Notification will be released by the Department of
School Education.
TET is a compulsory examination for all the B.Ed.
Qualified candidates to be considered for teacher
jobs in schools.
6. Eligibility and qualifications as prescribed by the
NCTE
The test will be for 4 categories.
1. Teacher for LP classes (Category 1)
Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its
equivalent) with at least 45% marks and two year
trained teacher’s Certificate (TTC) or two years
Diploma in Elementary Education. Higher
Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent)
with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of
Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or two years
Diploma in Education (Special Education).
7. 2. Teacher for Upper Primary Classes (Category 2)
B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. With minimum 45 percent marks
and 2 year Diploma in Elementary
Education/Trained Teacher’s Certificate (TTC) or
one year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) Higher
Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent)
with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of
Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or
B.A/B.Sc./B.Ed.
8. 3. Teacher for High School Classes (Category 3)
B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. With minimum 45 percent
marks and B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned.
Fro Mathematics , Physics, Chemistry, Botany
and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in
the subject concerned with not less than 50 percent
marks from one of the Regional Institutes of
Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to
apply.
9. Category 4
For languages like Urdu, Tamil, Sanskrit, Hindi.
Special teachers, Physical education Teacher.
