Frith believed that there are 3 types of music
videos:

2. PERFORMANCE
This type of music video is where the band/artist sing on stage
or on some kind of setting and sing to the camera as if
performing to a live audience.
Example: Passenger – Let
Her Go

3. NARRATIVE
This type of music video is where the video will have a storyline,
as if it were a short film. Often music videos are made a few
minutes longer than the actual song itself to give more time for
the short film.
Example: Enrique Iglesias – Do You Know?

4. CONCEPTUAL
This type of music video is where the video is very arty and
possibly has lots of graphic/special effects, although it could be
different and just have a unique style, like the OK GO – This Too
Shall Pass music video, where the entire video is a circuit that has
different objects rolling around and hitting buttons to unlock
new parts of the circuit.
Example: Ok Go – This Too Shall Pass
