The Challenge
The McKenney’s team needed to install the
HVAC system in the new location without
disrupting ongoing patient services occurring
next door. They had to work around a signifi-
cant amount of existing below-floor plumbing
in occupied spaces. In addition, a large
stainless steel exhaust duct system had
to be routed through multiple floors to the
roof where the fan would be installed.
The Solution
Internal collaboration between the ­McKenney’s
Engineering, Automation & Control Solutions
and Healthcare teams eliminated the need for
multiple contact points and created a seam-
less deliverable. By coordinating with the
architect and general contractor, optimal rout-
ing and installation methods minimized dis-
ruption of the patient care areas. McKenney’s
previous knowledge of the facility, design/
build capabilities and on-staff medical gas
certified technicians ensured a smooth,
­successful relocation.
The Results
The HVAC system was installed without disrupt-
ing medical services, on time and under budget.
