The document discusses climate action and ways individuals can help address climate change locally. It suggests decreasing personal car usage by taking public transit, biking or walking when possible. Making small changes at home like turning off lights when not in use or lowering AC settings can also help reduce pollution. Staying informed by reading trustworthy articles and information online is important for understanding climate issues and solutions. Social media can be used to stay up to date on climate topics.
2. Why does it resonate for you?
This topic resonated with me ever since I first
really started researching it for an essay in a
college class at TCC a couple years ago. It’s
really the first time I ever looked into climate
change and air pollution and the health
hazards and damage that these things have
caused is something that hasn’t left my brain
since I learned about it. I think it’s important
that us as a society know what causes these
issues and how we can help fix it when
possible, to further better the future of our
planet.
3. How Can This be
Applied Locally?
There are certain ways that humans can help. One
main cause of this issue is pollution from cars, so
decreasing the number of cars on the road by taking
the bus, carpooling, biking, walking, etc. when possible
is one way to fix this. Another way is decreasing cars
that burn a lot more fossil fuels than others. Home
remedies like turning lights off when not in use, lower
AC settings, things like that can also help pollution
which helps climate action.
4. Where can you personally make the greatest contribution?
Like said in the last slide, there are things you can do in your personal life that can make a
difference in terms of climate action. Other than that, if you want to be up to date on information,
etc. reading articles, and finding information on the internet from trustworthy sources would be the
best way to do this.
5. Is There a Feature of Social Media that Can Be Uniquely
Applied to this Goal?
All social media has some
sort of information on
climate change and climate
action, so keeping up to date
on that and searching on
that is something good that
social media offers in terms
of this issue.
