2. Why does it resonate with you?
The topic resonated with me since I’ve
had personal experience investigating
environments. After learning about
Tacoma’s history with pollution and
public policy, it’s a topic that will have
to sit in Tacoma for a while. Some don’t
know that parts of the city simply
covered it up! On a global level,
everyone should keep in mind the
health of their planet. It is ever
changing at this point!
3. How can it be applied locally?
I am no local action hero, there are a variety
of ways people can take action. While city
council meetings can be a local source for
attempting change, they can also pass off
these remarks- leaving a smaller facet to take
to. Some might be volunteering for Pierce
County and/or forest services that help keep
waste away from nature. But as we sit in a
cozy lived space we can create goals to
reduce carbon footprint, therefore ensuring
stability.
This includes but is not limited to…
● Limiting washes
● Shifting your amount of waste
● Designated/sharing transportation
● Raising plants and gardening
● Reduce electricity usage
4. Where can I make the greatest contribution?
For me, I have the capabilities of platforms and services
that allow me to extend promoting art. Creating an ad
that I can post through social media locally can spread
among friends and relatives, raising some awareness on
top of the common acknowledgements. Art has been
known, if done well, to be reposted and reframe issues.
So keeping up to date on articles on what’s arising and
continuing this art information cycle could really
contribute to assisting in giving everyone their own part
in this larger issue. Even if you can’t create a large
salience among a specific issue.
5. Is there a social media feature that might
apply to this goal?
I believe by using any social media that
incorporates a repost button (i.e. LinkedIn,
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) that it
allows me to attempt an art piece where I can
start posting real information from real
sources found through our research
database. Otherwise, by searching through
proper resources and news articles.
