1. Script – Lost Pastimes:
A softly echoed run can be heard running beforetaking a stance-
Benedict: “I know what happened! It wasn’t your fault!?”
He calls out,his voice echoing through thestreetto a ghostly figure – a damselin torn white.
Charles: “So that’s what we’ve been chasing? Coh, blimey – it’s a woman? If I didn’t know
better, I’d say that she was a...”
The man having justcaughtup,nowoutof breath.
He says– the two charactersin conversation.
Benedict: “Quite-”
He confirms - a mixtureof concern,with a slighttouch of morbid excitementwasin his voice...
Charles: “You’re joshing me?”
He slightly stutters– hewould never doubtBenedict’sword...
Benedict: “Mrs. Peregrym took the fall for a husband, on the 22nd of December 1866, three
months later she was supposed to be sighted round Covent Garden by seven different
witnesses.”
A glimmer of childish excitementin his voice – he liked the challengeof something new and fascinating.
Charles: “That glimmer in your eyes is a nasty thing to have, right now?”
2. Concernedforthe wellbeingof hispartner,thoughBenedictdidn’tcare at all – the situationwasto
fantastical tolive down -
Benedict: “Look at it like this – we've witnessed the real deal here and whilst my excitement
maybe a little morbid – the situation is highly remarkable, don't you think?
Slowly building up overtime building up overtime theghostcan beheard saying -
Ghost: “Please... No... It wasn’t me!? Why can’t you believe me!?”
Acting out thescene once more– butonly her voice could behear – along with the screamsfromhelp.
Beforehaving a slowto sudden clearup of the distraughtvoiceto say -
Ghost: “I was innocent.”
No longerdistressed,justlifelessandclear...
Benedict: “I know – both of us do. I’m so sorry for what he did...”
He says – returning to calling out to the ghost, only now he was a lot more sympathetic.
Ghost: “That is irrelevant - nothing is changed.”
Charles: “She’s not wrong.”
Benedict: “With the upmost regret – sadly not... Not yet at least.”
