2. Our Thriller. ‘Sacrament’
As our thriller has a very low
budget, has no big named actors in and
British made it would appeal to the
smaller distribution or theatrical
company, this is because there is no
money to create a large scale
advertisement project. I would expect
the film to be shown in small theatrical
theatres such as the Broadway cinema
Nottingham.
3. Runs along side the much wider company Kaleidoscope
Home Entertainment which began business in 2008
Established in autumn 2010 they are a new distribution
company that is focused on delivering 10-12 feature films per
year.
As part of its mission to support independent film and
filmmakers, in its first year of operation, KFD part financed
eight of its feature titles.
They are based in SOHO London
They have two Thrillers which are going to be released in
2012:
The man inside (Turner, 2012)
Interview with a hitman (Bhandal, 2012)
4. Both films are due to be released later this year (2012)
I believe that this film company would be a good choice
of distribution company for our Thriller, this is because
they are a new company so will be looking for new
insightful films. They help out the production costs of
smaller film companies if they get distribution rights.
They are a British film company that are planning to get
into the international market, and they are already
distributing the correct genre of films for our group.
5. Studio Canal (Optimum Releasing) is a international
distribution company
It is part of the Vivendi Conglomerate
The headquarters is in Paris and was founded in 1988
Optimum Releasing was taken over by Studio Canal in
2006, Studio Canal was a UK based company that
specialised in helping the smaller British film companies
distribute their films
Since then Optimum Releasing has been renamed Studio
Canal UK
Their British office is based in London’s City Centre
6. The Ghost (Polanski, 2011)
This film was a blanket release in the UK (332 Screens) and
made £853,679 this was a succesful opening weekend how-
ever in the USA it was only released on 4 Screens and made
$183,009 on the opening weekend
Cargo (Engler & Etter, 2009)
The facts and figures to do with screens and overall gross
have not been made available on the internet as this time.
7. Studio Canal (Optimum Releasing) is
also a good distribution company for
Sacrament as it still caters for blanket
releases or selected releases in both the
USA and UK, they also have distributed
Thrillers so understand the Genre and
what best way they should be handled
when Distributing.
