This study guide discusses four ways to edit videos for music education:
1) Editing recorded video clips by trimming unwanted content or adding titles.
2) Merging several video clips into one coherent video by ordering clips and adding transitions.
3) Changing the audio of video clips by adding music, sounds, or spoken text.
4) Mixing still images, slides, audio and video by combining elements while avoiding sudden changes.
The guide encourages thinking about how these editing techniques could be applied rationally in music education and choosing one method to create a short edited video clip.

2. Topic of the week 8
● Video editing could be done in severel ways:
– By a editing recorded video clip
– Merging several video clips into one video
– Changing the audio of a video clip
– Mixing together still pictures, slides, audio and
video
– ...
3. Let's look at these possibilities..
● Editing a recorded video clip:
1) To remove unwanted content
– to trim the beginning and/or the end of the clip
– to cut out frames in the middle that are not
suitable
2) To add wanted content
– to add title, date and place at the beginning of
the clip
– to add subtitles where necessary
5. Another possibility to edit
● Merging several video clips into one video
– Creating a sequence of short videos
– Thinking of how to edit the transition from one
clip to another
– Aligning the clips into a meaningful order
– Adding a title to the end product that
incorporates all the clips
7. Third possibility
● Changing the audio of a video clip
– It could be done throughout the original video or
just in some places
– Added audio could be a piece of music, random
sounds (e.g. from nature) or a spoken text
– It is important to think how the new audio
influences overall meaning of the video!
9. Fourth possibility
● Mixing still pictures, slides, audio and video
– A video may contain still images (pictures/slides
with text) with added audio (music, sounds,
spoken text) and video clips
– Keep the overall apprearance clean i.e. use one
type of transition for pictures and slides
– Avoid too sudden and flashy changes i.e. give
the viewer time to see the information properly
– Have a clear idea in mind what is the purpose of
this kind of video
11. Choose one of the first three options
to edit a video and create
a short video clip (max 1 min)!
