March 2017 Skype Interview by
Lycée international Nelson Mandela, Nantes, France
American OIB literature class.
2. Introduction by Katie L. Caroll
Katie has had many jobs, including but not limited to newspaper delivery girl,
hardware store cashier, basketball coach, puzzle magazine editor, and (her
favorite) author.
She has lived in the same city her whole life, but has wandered the streets of
London in search of bookstores, swam with the sharks in Tahiti, and run a
marathon in Alaska.
She’s the middle child of five siblings and blames all her problems on middle-child
syndrome.
She loves collecting signed books and reading them before giving them away as
gifts.
Her favorite sources of writing inspiration are her family, nature, music, and
astrophysics, particularly supernovae, black holes, and dark matter.
3. Katie L. Caroll
Katie L. Carroll is a mother, writer, editor,
and speaker. She began writing at a very sad
time in her life after her 16-year-old sister,
Kylene, unexpectedly passed away. Since
then writing has taken her to many
wonderful places, real and imagined. She
wrote her YA fantasy ELIXIR BOUND so
Kylene could live on in the pages of a book.
Katie was also a contributor to THE GREAT
CONNECTICUT CAPER, a serialized mystery
for young readers. She lives not too far from
the beach in a small Connecticut city with
her husband and sons. For more about
Katie, visit her website at
