Tokyo is the capital and is often featured in movies and anime, containing museums like the Tokyo National Museum. The Japanese flag is named Nisshoku which translates to "sun mark flag" and features a red circle representing the sun in the center. Japan experiences around 5000 earthquakes annually and has suffered three major natural disasters recently including an earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear explosion. Japan has the third largest economy in the world focused on industries like motor vehicles, electronics, and chemicals.

4. Tokyo Tokyo is often used as a setting for Japanese movies and animes. There are many museums in Tokyo including Tokyo National Museum and Edo-Tokyo museum. The name Tokyo translates into ‘’eastern capital’’

7. Famous Japanese People Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata are famous for founding the animation film studio, studio ghibli. They have produced films such as My Neighbour Totoro , Spirited Away,Ponyo and Kiki’s Delivery Service .

8. Natural Disasters As we all know Japan has suffered from 3 major natural disasters in the past few weeks. These include an earthquake, tsunami and a nuclear explosion. Japan can have up to 5000 earthquakes a year. The word tsunami is Japanese for ‘’harbor wave ‘’.

9. Economy Japan’s economy is the third largest in the world after the United States and The peoples Republic of China. Japan’s main industries are motor vehicles,electronics and chemicals .
