Individual practice with peer evaluation
1. Recent work has involved creating a forecast regarding upcoming projects and the resulting
recruitment actions to meet demand / pipeline.
Unfortunately, I quickly realized that the employee who was responsible for the task was
overwhelmed. Since his actual main tasks already require a lot of effort.
As a result, I decided to support him in the task, as I noticed during the discussions that
information was missing due to information deficits. If the information had been available,
the output would have been better.
During my daily jogging round, I asked myself kitisch what must have caused the employee
to make no progress within two weeks. Were there fears to inquire? Was he unaware of the
contact persons / decision-makers within the organizational structure? Was it the excessive
demand? Was the task unclear?
Finally, I checked everything logically step by step in order to exclude errors or omitted steps
according to an exclusion procedure. The result was that the originator of the task had
withheld background information that would have been of crucial importance in the context
of processing the task.
As a result, I supported the employee in the course of processing the task and in obtaining
the information. The employee was motivated to complete the task and showed ownership
and commitment to resolve the outstanding issues in the shortest possible time.
Afterwards I realized again that it is necessary and indispensable that information is
communicated top-down in a degree of availability corresponding to the task. So that an
employee does not feel left alone in the context of the processing and finally shows a
reduced motivation.
