Educational Qualification:
May 2015 – April 2017 MSc in research, Engineering Department, University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom.
Title of the Thesis: “Applications of spectral waves model SWAN”
Description: Simulating Wave Nearshore SWAN is applied to three study cases: one idealized test
case, one real but simple environment (Aberdeen bay) and one real and difficult environment (Pentland
Firth).
Supervisors: Prof. T. O’Donoghue, Engineering Dep./ University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, UK
Dr. R. O’Hara Murray, Marine Lab, Aberdeen, UK
July, 2005 Laurea Magistrale in Naval Architecture, University of Trieste, Italy (Score: 110/110 cum
laude)
Title of the Thesis: “Computational analysis of the performance on waves of a
passengers catamaran for Mediterranean routes”
Description: Study of the sea keeping characteristics of a given catamaran hull, defined within a
previous National Project of Research. The analysis is carried out through the use of the Sesam-Wasim
DNV software packet, for the calculation of the transfer functions of the ship’s motions and vertical
accelerations. The Wave Scatter Diagrams relevant to the Adriatic Sea, to be used for the workability
and MSI analysis, are obtained from the experimental recordings published on line by Rete
Ondametrica Nazionale. The thesis work includes the following aspects: vertical accelerations short
time response, with reference to Pierson-Moskowitz waves spactra; workability and comfort on board
(MSI - Motion Sickness Incidence); vertical accelerations long term response, with reference to waves
spectra calculated from the Adriatic Sea’s Wave Scatter Diagrams. From the results can be deducted
some general instruction for the Master to minimize the ship’s motions in wavy sea.

In the team of STEMMA (Società di Tecnologie e Metodologie per il Management Ambientale, Trieste, Italy) within “Progetto Adriane”. A reliability analysis of models ETA-SWAN was made in comparison to wave buoys data in North Mediterranean sea (CETEMF France, Puertos del Estado Spain, POSEIDON Greece, Marin Biology Station Piran Slovenia, RON Italy for a total of 25 buoys) in the period June 2006 – January 2007. The validation of the models was made both on statistical basis, observing the Student distribution of rms errors, and from comparison of wave quantities time record calculated against measured. After validation, ETA-SWAN results have been used to fill gaps in buoys recordings (due to malfunctioning or failures). Results have been presented in same form of Global Wave Statistics. • 6. Hobbies: I’m a passionate rock climber and sport person. I like to run and, generally, dedicate my free time to outdoor sports and spearfishing, when I am not in mountain for climbing. I am a beginner, but with good results, in carpentry and all hand works with wood. I like playing the drum set and drive my motorbike. I really love of cooking. Aberdeen, February 2016
