2. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Dr. Kenneth Tease
Profile
Responsible for setting up and running the Orion Energy Centre, a Marine Consultancy. Has
experience in Business Development, Finance, Contract negotiations, Client liaison, Marketing
and Project Management of Technical Projects.
Twenty Two years' practical Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering experience in the Marine
Renewable Energy Sector.
Clients over the last year have included: Resolute Marine Energy, MRCF, TTI, Scottish Enterprise
cabling laying project, Aquatera, Wave Energy Scotland projects. Ken has also been actively
developing new business opportunities in relation to the proposed offshore floating wind test
centre, Dounreay.
Project due diligence. Assessment of device energy yield for different sites and associated cost
benefit studies to calculate the LCOE, involving CAPEX, OPEX models etc.
Key area of expertise is in Wave Energy, with knowledge in wavetank testing of fixed and floating
devices, resource measurements and assessment and numerical analysis of power absorption
systems, including the behaviour of mooring layouts for floating wave devices, i.e. point
absorbers, floating attenuators...backward bent duct buoy etc.. Orcaflex modeling of their mooring
layouts has previously been calibrated using our tank test results.
The power absorption systems were optimised using analytical, experimental and Computer Aided
Engineering methods, i.e. CFD and FEA, prior to their detailed design, manufacture, installation,
commissioning and operation. Both physical model and full size tests were carried out to
generate performance curves and extreme loading conditions for validation purposes. Aero-
acoustics were also taken into account during the design process.
Used to operating within a company which has been accredited to ISO 9001:2000 Quality
Management System, OHSAS 18001:1999 Safety Management System and ISO 14001:2004
Environmental Management System standards.
