8. JANATHA BAZAAR BENGALURU
I am referring it as a bad example
because of the govt decision, they must
be find it an obstacle for the
development
Janatha Bazaar has been listed as a
Heritage Building under the Karnataka
Town and Country Planning Act.
BUT STILL notice on sept 2018 was
there to demolish the building because
the building is old and plans are afoot
to construction a muliti-storey
commercial complex
BUT Indian national trust for art and
cultural heritage Bengaluru steped
forward to stop the authority
EVEN several citizen-led activist groups
and organisations objected to the BDA’s
involvement
9. HISTORY
❖ It was on September 11, 1935 the Asiatic Company, opened its doors to the public. Arched
openings, teak wood doors, cast iron spiral staircases, parapets and chequered flooring:
Janatha Bazaar is a snapshot of architecture from the early 20th century.
❖ One of the earliest multi-storey commercial buildings in the city, it is also the only structure
attributed to the architectural contributions of the renowned horticulturist and townplanner G.H.
Krumbiegel, who designed it during his tenure as consulting architect to the state of Mysore.

10. BENGALURU, THE MURPHY
TOWN LIBRARY
Why a heritage structure was so neglected that there
was no option but to raze it to rubble. ?
Maybe people lost the importance of the structure?
Maybe because of casual approach!
Coz of all these I have decided to take up this
example for a bad example
❖ 104 year old Murphy Town Maket
was RAZED on jul 2017
Only Redeveloped or Reconstruction
could be done because the authority
has clamed that the library was
dilapidated beyond restoration,
its on the verge to collapse hence
dangerous to inhabit
