The day when India
burned
Many hundred years, the Muslims and Hindus in the sub continent was lives with long last
values and with proper principles with each other. At that time three different countries were
living in one place.
1. PAKISTAN
2. INDIA
3. BANGLADAISH
There were no religious frightening with the peoples of different religions. All were living a good
life in one place. Three different communities were living under one roof.
1. MUSLIMS
2. HINDUS
3. SIKHS
What happened in 1946?
In 1946, the condition under the one roof started changing. Peoples of these 3 different
communities started to hate each other in different matter like cast, religion and living values.
These bad conditions getting worst as long as the year was passing to next step of 1947.
End of Britain in India:
After a long time ruling on India due to different reasons in world war ii, British started leaving
India completely. The control will be Indians after British in sub continent.
The main reason of the critical situation was that,
Who will be the ruler after leaving British in India? There were two communities which were
prominent at that time. Hindus want to rule Muslims and Muslims want to rule Hindus at first in
starting.
Who were the leaders of Muslims and Hindus at that time:
3 different leaders of 2 parties were leading.
1. Muhammad Ali Jinnah ( Muslim League)
2. Gandhi ( Indian national congress)
3. Pundit Nehru ( Indian national congress)
What congress leader wants?
Both congress leaders wants only one state because they claimthat we are in majority and
Muslims are in minority. Quid e azam said; this is not acceptable for my Muslims that all will live
in one roof under the Hindus rule.
What Muslims leader wants?
Quid e azam wants separate home
Land for Muslims because if they live under one roof, Hindus in majority will get more benefits
and Muslims will be pre- dominant and they suppressed by Hindus. British politicians were with
congress and give importance to one state. But Muslims leader don’t give any importance to
British idea.
INDIA was the jewel in British Empire’s crown. But in 1947, the condition starting changing
between Muslims and Hindus. India was going to split into two states: Muslims and Hindus. The
condition become so critical in 1946 end that the solve of problem was only separation.
What happen after Briton decision?
After political deadlock British agreed to divide the Muslims and Hindus.
This involved partitioningtwo of India's biggestprovinces,Punjab
and Bengal. The details of where the new internationalboundary
would lie were made public only two days after independence.
What happen during partition?
THE PARTITION OF INDIA 1947
Millions of people left their old homeland and move towards the new demanding separate
homeland. Pakistan and India. Muslims move with smile face when train leaves India.
River of blood:
The border between the India and Pakistan become the river of blood of people during the
partition.
During this partition, 14.5 million people cross the border to move the new country. After
British gone there were no proper values of migration for such a huge population to migrate
across the borders. A massive slaughter and violence occurs across the both sides of the border.
Estimates of death:
1. Roughly estimate 500,000
2. Low estimate 200,000
3. Highest estimate 1,000,000
Over 10 million people uprooted from their homeland and move on foot, bullock carts and
trains to their promised new home.
An aged and abandoned Muslim couple and their grand children sitting by the roadside on this
arduous journey. "The old man is dying of exhaustion. The caravan has gone on,"
wrote BourkeWhite.
The massive exchange of population that took place in the summer of 1947 was
unprecedented. It left behind a trail of death and destruction. The Indian map was slashed to
make way for a new country - Pakistan.
In a couple of months in the summer of 1947, a million people were slaughtered on both sides
in the religious rioting. Here, bodies of the victims of rioting are picked up from a city street.
The street was short and narrow. Lying like the garbage across the street and in its open gutters
were bodies of the dead.
MAN EATER VULTURES ARE ALSO WAITING FOR THEIR TURN
With the tragic legacy of an uncertain future, a young refugee sits on the walls of Purana Qila,
transformed into a vast refugee camp in Delhi.
THE TRUTH
In July 1946, Jinnah held a press conference at his home in Bombay where he declared his
intent to create Pakistan. Jinnah proclaimed that the Muslim league was "preparing to launch a
struggle" and that they "have chalked a plan". He had decided to boycott the Constituent
Assembly. He rejected the British plan for transfer of power to an interim government which
would combine both the Muslim League and the Indian National Congress.
He said that if the Muslims were not granted Pakistan then he would launch "Direct Action".
When asked to specify Jinnah retorted: "Go to the Congress and ask them their plans. When
they take you into their confidence I will take you into mine. Why do you expect me alone to sit
with folded hands? I also amgoing to make trouble." On the next day, Jinnah announced
August 16, 1946 would be "Direct Action Day" for the purpose of winning the separate Muslim
state and warned congress, "We do not want war, if you want war we accept your offer
unhesitatingly. We shall have India divided or we shall have India destroyed." Muslim League
Council Meeting held during the period 27 July– 29 July 1946 passed a resolution declaring, the
Direct Action Day was intended to unfold “direct action for the achievement of Pakistan.”
CONCLUSION:
Still there are so many tension and clashes between the India, families cannot cross the border
even with visa to meet their families after a great blood war, 80 years passed to this situation.
The behavior of Indians is not so good about Pakistan and Muslims living in the India.
The END
