2. Wiki: Revised
The project I chose to revise is from Promoting Student Success in the Online Learning
EDU 601. It was a wiki assignment completed with groups of four students each.
Before beginning the activities, students should review this week’s announcement pertaining to
proper netiquette.
Learning Activity 1
Renewable and alternate Energy Wiki
Students will create a wiki.
One student in each group will be the creator and create the wiki, they will be the group
representative. This person is going to be the one who can change settings and other duties
related to the site. Discuss amongst yourselves who it will be and they need to be able to
respond to their peers daily. Other students can help to develop the wiki from there, through
background, layout and so on.
Once the wiki is created students will work on one page and add information into four different
topics listed below.
Students need to include:
Solar energy
Wind Energy
Hydro Power
Natural Heating
Each student is expected to participate and add to every category. Each students is required to
post a link to two different resources with a brief description of what they found and how it can
be useful (two links for solar energy, two links for wind energy and the same for hydro power
and natural heating).
Once the wiki site is created invite your instructor to join your group wiki.
Learning Activity 2
Which form of energy will you choose?
Students will reflect on the information that was provided by their group members in Learning
Activity 1 and decide which one they are going to pursue. Each student has to research a
different form of renewable energy.
Each student will add a 3-5 page word document to the wiki discussing their renewable
energy choice.
Each student will review their peers work and provide useful feedback
Email a copy of your finished document to your instructor for review.
Learning activity 3
Each student will create a 10 slide PowerPoint presentation on what renewable energy
resource would work best in their region. Some may have more than one form of renewable
energy available to them.
Include choices and reason why. (Does your region have more sunny clear days or is your region
wind over half the days of the year)
List pros/cons of choice
Include cost for implementation and maintenance
Is it used now in your region?
