“A professor in my field whose work I very much admired … tweeted that
she had PhD scholarships available. I would not have heard about these
had I not been following her on twitter. I was not even looking for scholarships
at that time… In one of my first ‘professional’ twitter interactions I tweeted her
and asked about the possibility of an international scholarship. She replied that
she had one.
As I now sit in Australia on that international scholarship I have twitter to thank
for this opportunity to complete my PhD.”
Sheree Bekker, the Australian Centre for Research into Injury in Sport and
its Prevention (ACRISP), Federation University Australia, October 22nd, 2014.
A PhD student’s why?
17. Where did the hashtag #MQPhDSup come from?
I made it up when I joined MQ 3 months ago. For workshops like this.
Checked out no-one else was using it by doing a hashtag search.
Easy.

POST A TWEET: If this is your first tweet, and you feel like it, you can add #firsttweet
