3. • Demonetization is the act of stripping a currency unit of its status as
legal tender.
• The old unit of currency must be retired and replaced with a new
currency unit.
• The Indian government moved as well as decided on November 8,
2016 to demonetize the two notes with biggest denomination i.e.
Rupees 500 and 1000 which are in combine recorded with 86%
participation in the total cash supply chain of the country.
• The main objective of this decision was to eradicate black money and
to make India go digital. The research focuses on the effects of
demonetization on the consumer behavior and their payment
methods.

a) change in payment modes
b) purchase habits.
• To assess if the number of Indians doing cashless transactions has increased
significantly post demonetization.
• To assess if the proportion of cashless transactions(over cash transactions)made
by individuals has increased significantly post demonetization
• To understand if digital payment has got acceptance from the people

population do no use Net banking system for monetary transactions.
Hence, Demonetization has hit trade and consumption hard.
• The Research wanted to understand if demonetization has affected
