2. Electronic mail or e-mail is one of the biggest
breakthroughs in ICT and the Internet. It has been a great and
reliable mode of communication nowadays because it gives a
great opportunity to computer users to communicate in a faster
paced environment.
3. Exchanging digital messages between computer
users is made possible through e-mail. It works through
networks primarily in the Internet.
4. E-mail Address
An e-mail address is a multipart address that is
divided into 5 different subgroups namely:
5. Username: The username states who specifically
own the e-mail address. It works like a physical home
address.
6. @ sign (AT sign): The @ sign separates the name
and its general server name or where the e-mail.
7. Domain Name: The mail server or domain name is
the name of the server that hosts your e-mail.
8. (dot): It separates parts of the address so it does not
all run together and the computer can distinguish the
different parts of the address.
9. The Domain: It is found at the end of a Web address.
It tells what type of Web page you are viewing.
11. E-mail Interface
You may be wondering how people communicate
online. Every e-mail has a set of addresses to which
messages can be sent.
12. 1. Sender. Also known as the “from line,” this is the same
subscribers will see when they receive an email message from you.
13. 2. Subject. This is where you see the main topic or main thought of
the whole message or what is it all about.
14. 3. Header. This is the message recipient of your e-mail or to whom
you are going to send it.
15. 4. Body of the Message. This is where the whole content of your
message are written and indicated.
16. 5. Signature Line. This is the closing part prior to sending your
message. This is where your contact information, address, and
contact details are indicated for further communication with the
receiver of the e-mail.
18. There are paper clip icons for Gmail, Yahoo! Mail,
Hotmail, and Outlook. They are the universal images
for attachments in an e-mail program.
19. * Click New Message or Compose Email to open a new e-
mail message window.
* Type the e-mail address of the person or institution you wish
to receive your e-mail in the To: field. Fill out the Subject.
20. * Compose your message.
* After typing your message, click Attach a File on the menu item.
* Browse through your computer’s folders and click the files you
want to attach. In most cases, you can select multiple files by
holding down the CTRL key while clicking on each file.
21. * To attach the file to your e-mail, click Open or Choose File
* After attaching the file you need, click Send.
