Entire script for Malus, Written by Lydia Marley Lawson with creative help from Lauren Jiggins

1. 1. INT. DARK ROOM. NIGHT
TILT:
Camera tilts down a black wall to find a pentagram in
salt on the ground.
PAN:
Across floor to reveal a hooded figure, crouched on the
ground.
CLOSE UP:
Reveals her bloodstained hands shaking.
2. OPENING CREDITS
STOP MOTION:
High angle shot shows a pentagram being drawn in the
earth. Then candles appear around it individually, then
lighting by unseen forces.
PAN:
Hooded figures walking through a forest.
CLOSE UP:
Opening an old book and displaying information about
Witchcraft.
CANTED ANGLE:
One of the hooded figures looking up. Then they look down
into the camera and we see their eyes are completely
black.
HOODED FIGURE
(Screams)
First Credit.
PAN:
Goes across a shelf of jars with heads, brains and body
parts inside.
Second Credit.
CLOSE UP:
Knife cutting hand and blood oozing out.
Third Credit
LOW ANGLE:

2. Hooded figures gathered in a circle looking down into
the camera and chanting.
CLOSE UP:
Wrists with matching pentagram tattoos.
Fourth Credit.
LONG SHOT:
Devil standing in a gap in the trees.
MID SHOT:
Devil standing closer.
CLOSE UP:
Devils face in the camera.
DEVIL
(Mad Laughter)
Fifth Credit.
CLOSE UP:
Hand blowing out candle.
3. INT. LIBRARY. DAY.
CLOSE UP:
Feet walking down a corridor.
TILT:
Tilt up to display a girl walking into a library.
MID SHOT:
Girl walks over to book case
MID SHOT:
Girl scans the books with her finger until she detects an
interesting one.
OVER THE SHOULDER:
She looks over her shoulder to check no one is looking as
she takes it off the shelf and begins to read.
MID SHOT:
Girl takes the book and some other ones around it and
takes them to the desk to be scanned.

3. OVER THE SHOULDER:
Librarian scans books then looks up suspiciously as she
notices the book in question.
MID SHOT:
Girl smiles awkwardly at librarian.
TILT DOWN:
Tilt from girls face to the librarian handing her the
book.
TRACK AND DOLLY:
Girl walking down the corridor and out through the doors.
4. INT. HOUSE. NIGHT.
MID SHOT:
Front door as someone rings the bell.
(Doorbell rings)
LONG SHOT:
The group of girls enter the house as the door opens.
CLOSE UP:
As the final girl closes the door behind herself.
PAN:
Living Room full of girls with food and drinks watching
television. The door opens and the girl from the library
comes in holding the book.
ALEXIS
Look what I found today.
PAN:
Pan then follows Alexis as she sits on the floor with the
book.
AVARITIA
A scruffy old book?
OTHER GIRLS
(Laughter)
Alexis smiles, accepting the humor and then opens the
book.
ALEXIS

4. Some old book of Witchcraft!
Nidra gets up and sits by Alexis on the floor.
NIDRA
Let me see.
Slowly the girls gain interest in the book and begin
chanting the spells as a joke.
LIVIA
This one apparently brings
darkness!
Livia places her glass of wine down on the floor and then
clears her throat.
LIVIA
Et Ponam in lucem tenebras
removere!
Suddenly the television and lights power out.
(Screams)
Alexis rushes over to the light to try and turn it back
on but it doesn't work.
DESIREE
What the hell is going on?
At this point the television and lights come back on and
the girls retire from drunken spell casting.
5. EXT. PARK. DAY
Nidra and Desiree are sat on a bench talking.
NIDRA
Last night was...weird.
DESIREE
I know, do you think it was real
or just a coincidence?
NIDRA
Is it bad that I want it to be
real?
DESIREE
I dont know how Alexis slept last
night.
NIDRA
I got a text from her at like 4am
asking if I was awake.
At that moment Alexis and Livia walk past dressed all in
black.

5. ALEXIS
Can we talk to you for a second?
NIDRA
Yeah whats up?
Alexis and Livia sit on the bench with them.
LIVIA
Do you want to start a Coven?
DESIREE
(Laughs)
A what?
ALEXIS
A Coven. Like, witches...
NIDRA
Don't you have to be a Witch to
do that kind of thing?
LIVIA
Well after last night I suppose
we're half way there.
DESIREE
I don't know, it seems a bit
daft.
LIVIA
Go on, it'll be a laugh!
The girls stand up together and walk through the park.
6. INT. OLD HOUSE. NIGHT
DESIREE
I don't know about this, it seems
like we shouldn't be here.
ALEXIS
Come on, Des. Live a little.
Alexis shoves past Desiree playfully and places the book
on the table.
The girls all sit down around the book.
LIVIA
Everyone hold hands, that's how
this works, right?
ALEXIS
Yeah I guess so...
The girls hold hands with the exception of Desiree who is
reluctant to join.

6. AVARITIA
Come on Des.
Avarita grabs Desiree's hand and they are all in union.
LIVIA
Longe vestri hamum et malo
irritum facies tua.
Suddenly all the lights go out and cut to black. A
piercing scream is heard as candles start popping on
across the room.
Flashing light shows the devil smiling.
The girls are all holding their wrists as they display
pentagrams which have been scratched into their wrists.
7.INT. OLD HOUSE. DAY
All the girls are laid motionless on the floor. Desiree
is the only one to wake up
DESIREE
What the fuck happened last
night?
Desiree gets up from the floor and walks into the
bathroom. She looks in the mirror and tries to fix her
makeup, before running her tattoo under the cold tap
SHOT: Desiree running her tattoo under the tap with the
mirror out of sight
Desiree looks up, and the devil is stood in the mirror
behind her
SHOT: CLOSE UP OF DEVIL AND DESIREE
DESIREE
Shit! (turns around to face the
Doug) Who are you?!
DEVIL
Hi, my name is Doug. That's "god"
spelled backwards with a little
bit of you wrapped up in it.
He wipes a stray piece of hair from Desiree's face
DOUG
I'm joking. You summoned me last
night when you did that stupid
spell. I'm your worst nightmare.
Desiree smiles slightly but then masks her smile with a
scowl.

7. SHOT: Tracking shot follows Doug and Desiree as they walk
back into the room with the rest of the coven in
DOUG
Now we can do this the easy way,
or the hard way. You strike me as
someone who's easy, but the rest
of these girls might disagree...
DESIREE
Do what the easy way?
DOUG
I don't know if you've heard the
stories or not, but I'm into all
of this world domination shit,
and since you seven summoned me,
you seven have to help me.
DESIREE
And if we don't?
DOUG
You mean the hard way? If you
don't help me, I'll rip this
sorry excuse for a coven apart
from the inside, then finish my
plan of sending everyone to Hell.
(Smiles smugly)
Zuma stands up and joins Desiree
ZUMA
This is bullshit. I don't know
who you are or what you want but
we didn't summon anyone last
night.
DOUG
(Laughing)
Ah the hard way!
Doug exits through the door, Desiree runs after him.
DESIREE
Wait!
The corridor is empty, as if he had vanished.
8. EXT. FOREST. DAY
The girls are sat in a circle around the book. Each of
them wearing black clothing and looking at their tattoos.
VORA
I think I like it. What do you
think Nidra?

8. Nidra is lying across the floor with her eyes closed.
NIDRA
I'm not bothered.
AVARITIA
Are you okay, Nid?
NIDRA
Yeah I'm just tired.
Alexis opens her bag and pulls out black cloaks.
ALEXIS
I thought you'd all want to try
these out.
She hands the cloaks around to each witch.
AVARITIA
Where's mine? I love how everyone
has one except for m-
Alexis pulls out the final cloak and throws it to
Avaritia.
Vora lies Nidra's cloak over her and takes her chocolate
and eats it.
Alexis dons her cloak and stands up to model it,
confidently.
ALEXIS
How do I look?
LIVIA
(Sarcastically)
Great.
ZUMA
Why are you being so short with
everyone Livia?
LIVIA
I'm not, it's just typical that
everyone gets the nice cloaks and
i'm lumped with this tatted old
thing.
ZUMA
Nidra? Nid what's the point on
being here if all you're going to
do is sleep?
Nidra opens one eye then closes it again.
ZUMA
What the fuck is your problem?

9. NIDRA
I don't have a problem, you're
the one raising your voice.
Silence falls amongst the girls.
PAN: SHOWS EACH GIRL DOING THEIR SIN: DESIREE LOOKING
THROUGH A MAGAZINE AT MALE MODELS, AVARITIA SNATCHING
NIDRAS CLOAK AND COMPARING THEM, LIVIA STARING AT ALEXIS
ANGRILY WHO IS LOOKING AT HERSELF IN A MIRROR, VORA
EATING NIDRA'S CHOCOLATE, NIDRA SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR AND
VUMA LOOKING ANGRILY AT ALL OF THEM.
9. INT. HOUSE. EVENING.
Doug walks through door holding two glasses of wine. He
sits in front of Desiree at a table and passes her a
glass.
Desiree strokes him up the arm.
DESIREE
So what would you like me to do?
you know, because I don't want to
go to hell. Not unless its full
of guys like you.
DOUG
Well your job is dependent on how
you feel about your friends. You
see, I saw the way they look at
me. They want you out the picture
so that I'm all theirs.
Especially Nidra.
Desiree looks angry and puts her glass down.
DESIREE
Nidra? Has she said anything to
you?
DOUG
Ah you know, just asking how I
am, seeing if I want to go for
dinner... The usual
DESIREE
How could she?! She knows that I
like you. What a bitch.
DOUG
Yes. And you know the best way to
stop a bitch like that?
Desiree looks at him, urging him to answer the question.
DOUG
Place a pillow, tight over her

10. face. She will fight and try and
stop you but you must wait until
the struggle is over and then you
know you wont have anymore
trouble from her.
Desiree grabs Doug's hand.
DESIREE
What? Like... Kill her?
Doug moves his hand away sharply and holds them up, as if
admitting defeat.
DOUG
Well, that's your decision.
Although I was quite tempted to
go for dinner with her tomorrow.
DESIREE
I'll do it.
10. INT. HOUSE. EVENING.
The doorbell rings and the front door opens. Nidra is
standing at the door with a bag, yawning.
DESIREE
Hey! sorry for the short notice
but, I feel like I haven't seen
you in ages!
Nidra walks in and places her bag on the floor.
NIDRA
I'm no fun tonight, I just cant
stop yawning either.
DESIREE
Well, you get some sleep if you
want? We can go out tomorrow?
Nidra climbs into bed and Desiree turns the light off.
The room is lit by a lamp.
DESIREE
What do you think of Doug?
NIDRA
He's a bit, full on.
DESIREE
Do you think? because he said the
same about you.
Nidra sits up in her bed.
NIDRA

11. Me?
DESIREE
There's no point in trying to
hide it Nid. He told me
everything.
NIDRA
Told you what? Theres nothing to
tell.
DESIREE
Stop lying to me! you dont know
what i'm capeable of!
NIDRA
Look, i'm sorry but I have no
idea what you're talking about.
DESIREE
Okay. You best get some sleep.
A couple of minutes of silence pass and Nidra drifts off
to sleep.
Desiree picks up a cushion and slowly creeps to Nidra's
side.
CLOSE UP: NIDRA'S FACE LOOKING PEACEFUL
Desiree quickly places the pillow over Nidras face with
force.
Nidra begins to fight with Desiree, trying to break away
from her smother but eventually gives in.
The bedroom door opens and Doug stands in the passage.
DOUG
Well done.
Doug comes closer and kisses Desiree.
TILT: DOWN FROM DOUG AND DESIREE TO NIDRA'S HAND, HANGING
OFF THE BED WITH HER TATTOO ON SHOW.
11. EXT. GRAVEYARD. DAY
The girls, all in black are stood around a grave stone.
VORA
I just can't believe she's gone.
ALEXIS
It must have been so hard for
you, just to wake up and find her
there.

12. Alexis rests a hand on Desiree's shoulder. Desiree looks
into the distance.
LONG SHOT: PRIEST WALKING THROUGH GRAVE YARD.
DESIREE
I'll catch up with you guys
later.
Desiree walks over to the Priest. In the background you
can see her friends grouped together.
DESIREE
Father?
FATHER RUDIS
Ye-
Rudis steps back in fear.
DESIREE
Is there something wrong Father?
FATHER RUDIS
We shouldn't really be speaking.
I'm busy.
DESIREE
Why shouldn't we be speaking?
(rubs his arm)
FATHER RUDIS
That's not appropriate.
Rudis pulls his arm away and begins to walk out of the
graveyard.
As he walks away he looks back over his shoulder as
Desiree watches him go.
Desiree begins to follow him down the street until he
stops in a tunnel.
12. EXT. TUNNEL. DAY
Father Rudis turns around and faces Desiree.
FATHER RUDIS
I dont know what you are, or what
you want but you must leave.
DESIREE
I just want to ask you a
question, Father.
FATHER RUDIS
And what may that be?

13. DESIREE
Do you think i'm bad?
Rudis continues to walk through the tunnel. Desire grabs
his arm and pulls him back. She rips his shirt off and
pushes him against the wall.
PAN: AWAY FROM THE SCENE TO LEAVE AMBIGUITY.
13. INT. KITCHEN. DAY
Vora sits down at the table with a sandwich and begins to
eat.
Her phone begins to ring as she googles witchcraft on her
phone. The caller is unknown.
DOUG
Are you alone?
VORA
Who is this?
DOUG
I'm outside. Can I come in?
VOVORA
Seriously who is this?
The door closes and Vora stands up and rushes to the
door.
No one is there.
DOUG
(Clears throat)
Doug is standing behind her with a cake in his hands.
He smiles and sits down at the table.
VORA
What are you doing here?
DOUG
I wanted to ask you something.
VORA
How did you get in?
DOUG
Through the door... you just let
me in.
Vora sits down at the table, confused and clasps her
hands together.
DOUG
You know who I am, right?

14. VORA
You're Doug? Desiree's boyfriend?
DOUG
Not exactly. Would you believe me
if I said I was the Devil?
VORA
Hah! Yeah okay. What's up with
you?
DOUG
You summoned me last week when
you did that stupid spell,
remember?
Vora sits back in her chair, considering Doug's words.
VORA
Say you are the devil, what would
you want with me? With us?
DOUG
I'm not a fan of witchcraft or
what ever it is you're trying to
do. It's insulting to me. If you
help me I will let you go, no
strings attached.
VORA
Go?
DOUG
Live.
Vora stands up in anger.
VORA
I don't want anything to do with
your psychotic plans. Get out.
Doug smiles, accepting her decision.
DOUG
Okay. I understand you don't want
to betray your sisters. Not like
your friend Desiree who was,
easily persuaded.
Vora steps away, horrorfied.
VORA
She-she killed Nidra?!
DOUG
Hey, i'm not saying that! Anyway,
i've got to go. You may aswell

15. keep the cake.
Doug walks past Vora and lets himself out.
Vora sits back at the table, hands shaking and looks over
to the cake.
She cuts herself a piece and smells it to see if it's
safe.
She takes a bite cautiously and deciding it must be safe
has another bite.
Suddenly she starts to have a fit and collapses.
14. EXT. FOREST. DAY
The remaining girls congregate in the forest to discuss
the loss of Vora. Alexis presents the book and a cauldron
and they sit around it.
ALEXIS
Yesterday, we lost a member of
our Coven tragically. As a
sisterhood we must unite together
and celebrate our sister.
In the trees you can see Doug watching the girls as they
hold hands and chant.
TOGETHER
denique dente favum, denique
dente favum, denique dente favum
Each girl cuts their hand and drops blood into the
cauldron.
AVARITIA
I hope that if I was to die you
would all do this for me.
ZUMA
You always have to make it about
you. We are mourning our best
friend, get some respect.
AVARITIA
I have got respect! I've just
sliced my bloody hand for this
stupid coven.
ZUMA
You crave everyones attention,
you're so greedy.
Avaritia grabs the knife and holds it to Zuma's neck
against a tree.

16. Doug walks up behind Zuma's ear and whispers.
DOUG
Kill that greedy bitch.
Zuma takes the knife from Avaritia and stabs her in the
gut. She falls to the ground and she repettitively stabs
her.
Zuma looks up at her body.
Alexis stands up and runs over to Avriatia's body.
ALEXIS
What happened to us, sisters?
Zuma scrambles backwards, staring at her bloody hands
Everyone runs over to Avaritita's body in slow motion.
Through the scramble Doug winks at Zuma
Zuma grabs the knife and kills herself.
SHAKY CAM: THROUGH FOREST TO THE DEVIL'S EYE AS HE
BLINKS.
15. INT. BEDROOM. DAY.
Alexis is getting ready for the funeral in her bedroom
looking in the window.
Livia is looking at her in the mirror, envious of her.
ALEXIS
Everything is wrong, Liv
LIVIA
I know.
ALEXIS
Do you think it's the coven? did
we bring this on ourself?
LIVIA
yes. and it was your idea to
start this bloody stupid coven
and now look.
ALEXIS
Thats not fair.
LIVIA
Well look at you, too preoccupied
with your appearence to give a
shit about anyone else.
ALEXIS

17. Shut up. You're just jelous, Liv.
Liv picks up the spell book and hits Alexis over the head
with it. She smashes Alexis' mirror.
LIVIA
I've got enough bad luck anyway.
Livia cuts Alexis' throat with a shard of glass.
In the cracked mirror Doug is standing behind her.
DOUG
Well done, Livia. You dont know
how much this means to me.
LIVIA
Does this mean we're together
now? I'm sick of waiting for you.
DOUG
Livia, I have used you to
complete my work. You're just a
pawn in the scheme of things.
LIVIA
I just killed my best friend for
you.
LIVIA
My best friend.
Livia falls to the ground and cradles her body.
LIVIA
You mother fucker!
Liv hits Doug aggresively. He grabs her and throws her
across the room.
16. EXT. FOREST. DAY
Desiree is sat in the forest waiting for Doug. He walks
through the trees and holds his hand out to pull her up.
DESIREE
Is it done? are they all-
DOUG
Dead?
DESIREE
Yes...
DOUG
You're all mine.
FLASHBACK

18. Desiree pushes the priest to the wall and rips his shirt
off. Desiree goes to unfasten his belt and kiss his neck
when he stabs her in the throat with a crucifix.
Her body is on the floor and he stands over it saying a
prayer
FATHER RUDIS
deest in sem, take her soul.
RETURN TO PRESENT
DOUG
Do you know what I am?
DESIREE
You're the devil.
They hold hands and walk off into the distance.
DOLLY OUT: DOLLY OUT TO REVEAL ALL THE BODIES IN A PILE
INCLUDING DESIREE'S.
