Raily and Nicolice need to write a daily report for school but lack an interesting topic. They discover a mystery when potatoes go missing from a supermarket and a potato ninja is spotted. They investigate suspects like the janitor Mr. Norm and a new student Ed. Raily gets trapped in a locker and Nicolice finds a secret basement of cloned potato ninjas. They realize the supermarket assistant is controlling the ninjas with a potato controller. They stop a bank robbery by the ninjas and solve the mystery. The school principal praises Raily and Nicolice for their detective work.

THE MYSTERY OF THE POTATO

Chapter 1
Raily And Nicolice
It was a nice day, but not for Raily and Nicolice.
After school, Raily and Nicolice were staring at their
writing homework in Raily’s study room. They need to
write a daily report about an interesting thing that
happenedto them in the next ten days. They don’t know
what to write and they are the partnersin their writing
group.
“But I want to play Minecraft on my iPad or play
baseball with my friend for the good weather!” Nicolice
mumble.
“Me either!” Raily whispered, “I want to eat
something in the food market beside the street or having a
short picnic in the forest”
Raily, a littledetective, everyone knows him in the
school, and he helped the principle in some cases. He
loves math, playing cards.
But the only thing is: He is very SLOW---.
We can say he was slow as a turtle. He always had
troublerunning. And he always loves to eat other people’s
food and is always interrupt by the market beside the

street. When he smells something delicious, he will just
race without any troublewith tripping toward the place
where the smells come from. Even when he was doing
something important.
Nicolice, Raily’s sidekick. He is a very active and
helpful person. He is good at memorizing. he is probably
the best memorizer in the whole school. He also loves to
play some creative game, and also love baseball. He
always holdinga tablet.
But the only thing is: When he sees his friends, he
always going to talks with them for a long long time.
“Time for dinner!”Their mum yell from the kitchen.
“I have baked turkey, miso soup, hamburger, and some
mango puddingfor the..."
She doesn’t even have time to finish the last word of
the sentence, she already sees several empty stacks of
plates higher than the table, and she saw Raily and
Nicolice put their hands on their full stomach.
“I told you a piece of news,” Raily's mum whispered
to them, “ there is a case... That the principal wants you
guys to solve.” Raily’s mum looks worried. One minute
early, she didn’t even want to tell them to solve this case,
but still, she decided to tell them. One of the reasons that
she doesn’t want to tell them about the case is she thought
it was too dangerous. Another reason is she afraid that
they can’t finish their daily report on time.
“Which case?” They asked. They seem very exciting.
“You’ll see.”

Then mum took out a newspaper. It’s about a new
student from their school named Ed.
“On February 5, the Vancouver City Polices
found a lot of the same student named Ed,
each of them wearing a ninja costume, it
has thousands of them. They asked the
scientist, the scientist told them that the
student has been cloned. The police thought
the suspect is Ed, a new student, but it
looks like he didn’t know anything about
it.”
“Love it. It will be going to be fun. I hopeit’s about
food!” Raily cried out.
Nicolice sigh and say it very slowly, “OK. I’ll try my
best to solve this case with this ‘gluttonouseater’.”
They get upstairs and put their mystery materials in
their detective bag. Then they all picked up a mystery
book, and flopped down on their bed, ready to sleep.
Since they very enjoy their book, so they went to sleep at
12:00 and dreaming about what will happen in the case
they are going to have.
They are ready for it.

Chapter 2
Start The Case
On the next day of school, their teacher Ms. Cam
introduceda new student of their class named Ed.
He has a bunch of golden hair, a round nose and
looked very "dumb" with his round eyes that never
blinked. He also has a potato-shapedface with a hairstyle
that makes him look like a mushroom. Raily has a feeling
that something went wrong.
After lunch, when Raily was trying to placehis
backpack in his locker, someone pulled him into the
locker, and he left his backpack. He was stuck in the
middle and yelling for help.
Nicolice tried to pull him out and asked Raily,"How
could it happen?""Who did it?" they both examined the
locker carefully.
It gave them a quite shock when they found there was
a trail inside the locker. Nicolice climbed inside.
However, Raily is too fat to squeeze inside.
Nicolice found a secret basement and there were
many Eds all wearing ninja costumes and eating potatoes,

and the whole room also smells like potatoes. When the
Eds saw the stranger, they all chased him.
"Help--" Nicolice briskly slid down through the trail and
came out of the locker, shut the door tightly, and lock the
locker’s door.
He was safe.
When Raily heard what happened inside, they asked
one of their classmates and started telling them what
exactly happened.
He started tellingthem that two studentsin grade 7,
wanted to do a prank at Mr. Norm, the janitor. At that
time, he was on the upper floor and was cleaning a
classroom. The student advanced closer to him and saw a
weird shadow. They were too scared and ran out of the
school as fast as they can. Their classmate, Victor, who
told them that the shadow looked like a potato with a
headband.
Nicolice took notes about all of that and it seemed
strange to them. They thought he was lying and to prove
that they went upstairs after school around 4:30 and as
usual Mr. Norm was there. They got closer and saw that
Mr. Norm was heading in his room and right when he
closed the door the shadow came back. They got so
scared, but they stayed there to see how the shadow
looked and reacted.
It was the same that Victor told them and at that
point, they ran downstairs toward Raily’s home and
started thinking who did it and why.

Chapter 3
Smells Like Potatoes?
At Raily’s house, Raily’s mum was serving them
cookies. They lie to Raily’s mum they are going to camp
at the school for about a week.

Raily’s mum checked her phone, then asked, “It
didn’t say anything about camping or something like that
in the school website?”
“Our friend... welcome us to go.” They lie again.
They didn't say who invite them to go.
“Oh, I see. Raily’s mum said it very slowly.
Two second later...
On both of their parent's phone.
“Hallo. Yes, is me. Raily's I want to tell you
something about camping. Yes, I know, it’s didn’t say
anything about it. And they said it’s their friend invite
them. Wait, call the police? No... Better not... Oh, yes! I
have an idea! We can let the police(spy) follow them. OK,
that’s good. Bye, have good day!”
Few moment later…
“WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!”Raily and Nicolice all
cheering up, and they each have a hug and a high five.
At Saturday morning, Raily and Nicolice waken up
very early to pack up their suitcase. They each bring a
sleeping bag, a cushion, a solar panel flashlight, some
snack (especially Raily, he bring chocolate cookie chips,
Coca-Cola flavors gummy, some jelly, and six bottles of
7up,ect.), some money for buying the thing they need,

their detective bag... Then their mum calls a taxi for
them.
When the taxi arrived, they said goodbye to each
other with their tear hold in their eyes.
At the door at Raily’s house...
“Bye, mum.”
“Bye Raily, be safe. I'll mess you. Don’t eat too much
junk food, those are garbage!”
At the door at Nicolice’s house...
“Mum I need to go now. Love ya!”
“Be brave! Bye. My son." Then they hug each other.
On the taxi...
Nicolice took out his notes book from his detective
bag, then wrote:
Suspect #1: Mr. Norn
Career: The Janitor
Motive: (Don’t know yet)
Suspect #2: Victor
Career: A student
Motive: It’s Victor told what happened to Raily and
Nicolice. Maybe he is lying.
Suspect #3: Edward （Ed）
Career: A new strange student

Motive: Raily and Nicolice thought it was Ed’s scary
shadow scared them when they are at the second floor in the
school.

They leave a space for just in case to add anything
there.
When they arrived at school, they found a
supermarket in the other side of the street. And they went
in. They brought a stack of instant noodles, carrots
(because they thought carrots it’s easy to bring, it was
thick) …
When they came to the place where it sells potatoes,
but the box is empty.
“This is a mystery.” Nicolice joked.
When they heard the word “mystery”, and they think
about something strange.
“There’s no one in here!” Nicolice just realize. Then
they saw there's stand a green hairs manager who standing
beside them.
Raily asked the manager, “What happenedto those
potatoes?”

"Oh, hi.my name is--"
Before the staff can finished the sentence, they saw a
person, looks like a little boy, wearing a black ninja
costume.
"That face looks familiar to me!" Nicolice trying to
think back as hard as he can.
"Oh... Yes!" I saw that face of the "black ninja" in the
--- Wait, where did the others go?" Nicolice looked
around, no Raily, to the otherside, the staff is also gone.
When Nicolice raced to Raily, he found some fingers.
Raily explained, "We try to catch that potato ninja the
slapped door cut its finger off. but he got no blood at all.
See, it smells like potato too!"
They got back to school and find the room to sleep.
Chapter 4
The Attack of the Potatoes Ninjas
After the sleep Raily and Niko are now going to
introducedsuspects. They find Mr. Norm at the main door
of the school and he tells them that he has no idea of what

they are talking about, but he also tells them, he enters his
office at 4:30 p.m. and takes potatochips as his snack. It’s
potato chips he says.
“Oh, and I also have a potatostatue for my birthday
Mr. Norm exclaimed”.
After the talk Mr. Norm walked to a grade 7 class
which is also used for meetings by the teachers and
sometimes, even the principal, but she prefers her office.
She has a selfish attitudewhen she talks in the assembly.
Suddenly, the alarm rang and loud scream flying in
the air. They run out of campus and saw a strange car
parking outside the bank. Those potato ninjas were
robberingthe bank. The person in the car was the
supermarket assistant they met before. They also saw
that in the assistant's hands, there is a potatoecontroller.
They got the suspect.
They rushed to the car and grabbed the potatoe
controllerand destroyed it. Amazing things happened:all
the potato ninjas disappeared with only their costumes on
the ground among tons of potatos.
“Oh--- my---doooooog---”Raily is very impressed by
this veiw.
“All the Eds disspeared!” said Niko.
"HOOOO-HAAAA!" They all cheer up in a very
proud, loud sound.

But no one knows what happend. Exept Raily and
Necolice.
Chapter 5
Got the Suspect
Ten minete later...

"The assembly is unnecessary." the principal
announced, "the police has already found the suspect
and we all own a thank you to Nicolice and Raily. "
The next day they have a fun time at school and they
all became friends. Mr. Norn also said sorry for being
rude to him. Mr. Norm gave them three a cookies, then
they went to Niko’s home and enjoyed their time.
In the "HOOOO-HAAAA!" Every one cheer up for
Raily and Nocolice very proudly.
"I think we are going to be famous one day." Raily,
the dectictive, whisper to his sidekick, Necolice.
And also, they got extending for their daily report...
