7. FAQs
Do I have to perform in front of anyone?
• Yes this is a largely performance course. You will perform in lessons in front of
your class and to the AQA examiner in year 11.
Do we write much?
• Yes, we write a lot in drama to prepare for the written coursework and exam
paper demands. Written tasks are a key feature in many lessons.
Do we have to wear drama kit?
• Yes for freedom of movement and health and safety in the studio.
Do I have to do school productions or do drama outside of school?
• This is not compulsory but will support in your development of skill and
confidence performing in front of audiences therefore raise your overall
attainment
Do I have to learn lines from a script to perform?
• Yes and your memory capacity will develop over time. This is a key skill for the
industry and GCSE prepares you for memory and multitasking skills whilst
performing
Do we have to rehearse at break/afterschool?
• On the approach to practical exams the expectation is you/your group meets to
rehearse your performance. This is to finish the performance, raise the quality
and achieve your fullest potential. Making quality drama is time consuming and
reflects the working conditions of the industry
