12. Case Study – HV Battery Interface
Module Design
As the result of an urgent request from a
customer we designed a Battery
Interface Module incorporating CAN
gateway. The unit separated the battery
CAN system from the main vehicle CAN,
and provided control over contactors
and other battery interface features.

distribution unit for the prototype phase of an
OEM customers electric vehicle. It included:

• 1kW DC/DC converter
• Bespoke PTC Heater control with over‐
current protected output circuits and open
circuit detection

• Up to 600V working voltage
• >2400V isolation to 12V power system
