2. • For my film trailer I have decided to use a base genre of Horror. I have chosen to
use this as horror trailers always interest me as they have to interest people
without putting them off with too much gore for example but also be unique
enough that they are not just following a similar template as other films.
Additionally Trailers around this genre have a few conventions in the way they are
shot, the way the sound which will make it interesting to put them into practice.
• I have also decided to use a sub-genre of Mystery due to the basic story of the
trailer which I will go through soon. Mystery genres are easy ways to get people
interested in a film and suck the into a story especially if the problem has no
obvious solution.
4. • The trailer is based around a series of murders, particularly
the 13th murder in recent months. The murder of Daniel
Clarke which takes place in a local woodland, this will be
the opening of my trailer..
• During the trailer we meet our protagonists, a group of
Daniels friends; Jake, Adam and Tom also Daniels sister
Sarah.
• After seeing there reactions to the death of Daniel as well
as some arguments with police regarding the investigation
they each receive separate letters telling each of them to
meet at Wychall lane if they want Daniel back.
• This sparks the overall mystery aspect of the trailer, who
killed Daniel? How do we stop him? And What does he
mean see Daniel again?
5. • They all turn up individually outside of the school and
each discus these questions as well as if they should do
this on their own or tell the police.
• However we see that Sarah is determined to do what
ever she can to get her brother back and essentially
takes charge of the group deciding they will go inside the
school.
• When they enter the school we see them split up trying
to find Daniel. However the killer is with them and
slowly makes this mystery into a nightmare as he attacks
And hunts each of the characters which is primarily
shown in the form of a montage towards the end of the
trailer.
7. For my Trailer I have decided to aim for
a target audience of 15 year olds and
over. This is mainly based on what genre
I want to do as I want to present a
proper fear factor through the use of
blood and gore.
On my blog I have researched BBFC and how they view a film
of the age range. They state that the product may show strong
violence but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury.
The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong
sadistic violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be
detailed verbal references to sexual violence but the depiction
of sexual violence must be discreet and justified by context.
I will try to keep to this by hinting toward injuries through the
use of blood and cry's of pain in my trailer.
