2. The dictionary definition of internet is: “A
global computer network providing a variety
of information and communication facilities,
consisting of interconnected networks using
standardized communication protocols.”
3. An IP address is different than a domain name. The IP address is a set
of numerical instructions. It gives information about the address in a
way that only a computer can understand, to humans it would just be
a bunch of numbers. The domain name is a link to the IP address.
They point to the place where the IP address information is. It is
easier to think of IP addresses as the actual code and the domain
name as a nickname for that code. A typical IP address looks like a
group of numbers. It could be something like 157.14.04.01. However,
humans cannot understand or use that code. In conclusion, the
domain name is a part of the URL, which points to the IP address.
4. A packet is a way of communication over a
digital network. A packet is also called a
datagram, a block, a cell or a frame. When data
has to be transmitted, it is broken down into
structures of data, which are reassembled to
the original data chunk once they reach their
destination.
5. Routers are used to send out and retrieve data
packets to maintain codes and in particular an
internet connection for devices within the same
area. Routers focus on three main things:
Broadband, power and wireless.
