Flare Gas Control Project

Flare Gas Control Project at the Beaumont Refining and Petrochemical Services Complex in Beaumont,
Texas (an EPA Compliance project).
Duties include but are not limited to Quality management, implementation and documentation of all
construction services associated with the procurement and installation of facilities consisting of CHD Flare
Compliance, Zero Pound Compression, Flare Gas Instrumentation, Complex FGR Compression Rerouting
3. and the installation of two grass roots Compressor Units. Also actively participated in systems assembly
and turnover to client. KBR provided construction Management (CM) of direct subcontractors for the
approximately 900,000 estimated direct man-hours.
2005 to 2006 – Mechanical Integrity Inspector
Upgrade of Phenol Plant PDS Model - Theodore, AL

KBR provided Engineering Services for the Ineos Phenol plant PDS model upgrade from version 6.4 to 7.2
in Theodore, AL.
Implement and maintain mechanical integrity program in new facility. Build all U stamped vessels, as well
as piping TML’s into UltraPipe, manage UT crews and enter collected data into Ultrapipe. Also manage all
equipment and piping in recently acquired unit in Port Arthur Texas.

KBR provided plant operations and maintenance services to Ineos for their phenol plant located in
Theodore, Alabama.
2001 to 2003 – Lead QC / Welding Inspector
OP2 Debottleneck / Restart
E, P, C – Shell – Ethylene Unit – United States
KBR provided integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance services for this major
cracker debottleneck project at Shell Chemical’s olefins plant (OP2) in Deer Park, Texas. The US $400
million project is expected to boost Shell’s Deer Park ethylene capacity by 1.1 billion pounds per year and
should bring Shell’s total Deer Park ethylene production to 3.1 billion pounds per year from their OP2 and
OP3 olefins facilities.
Assigned to the complete rebuild of 10 furnaces to bring them in compliance with lowNOX requirements.
This included the fabrication of all components above the firebox as well as a retubing of the firebox,
replacement of the quench chamber and quench tubes. Worked closely with KBR engineering, the client
and the subcontractor assigned to the work, JV Piping. Coordinated all radiography during window of
opportunity between shifts.
1998 to 2001 – Quality Control Manager

Leslie oversaw all facets of maintenance on stream inspections as well as capitol improvements.
Maintained welder continuity, weld count and 5% RT.

Inspected all welding on the construction and installation of the E Line project. This included film
interpretation.
4. 1997 – 1998 QC Inspector
OP3 REBUILD
C – Shell – United States
Brown and Root rebuilt a significant portion of a 1.7 billion PPY Ethylene Plant damaged as the result of an
explosion and fire. Affected areas of re-construction were the Pyrolysis Fractionation, and Process Gas
Compression Blocks, along with certain portions of the Gas Oil and Kerosene Furnace areas. Included in
the scope were 660 tons of new steel, 67,000 linear feet of new piping, 67 major equipment items, 1,300
instruments, and over 500,000 feet of wire and cable.

Shell Delayed Coker Project
E, P, C – Shell – Delayed Coker Unit – United States
The Delayed Coker project is a multi-process facility which encompasses a new Sulfur Recovery unit which
converts H25 to elemental Sulfur and destroys NH3 through the use of the Scott and Claus processing
system, utilizing two (2) operating trains wit the design capacity of 135 TPD using air, or 200 TPD using
oxygen.

Propylene Oxide/MTBE Facilities
E, P – Texaco – Chemical Facility – United States
This project included a first-of-a-kind Texaco Propylene Oxide/MTBE process, UOP Merox Unit and
Scientific Design oxygen mix stations. Starting with a basic design package furnished by Texaco, KBR
performed detailed design and procurement services. By all standards of measurement - cost, schedule,
safety, quality, constructability and startup, this was an exemplary project. A successful cost reduction
program eliminated $40 MM from the estimated cost.
