Description of service
The SA Navy is offering young South Africans citizens an excellent
opportunity to serve in uniform over a two year period. The Military Skills
Development System (MSDS) is a two year voluntary service system with the
aim of equipping and developing young South Africans with the necessary
skills in order to compete in the open market.
Young recruits are required to sign up for a period of two years, during which
they will receive Military Training and further Functional Training

Responsibilities
- Purchasing of all Raw Material required by Production estimated value of
R10 Mil – R 15 Mil per month. Order placing on steel Mills for a window
period of 3 months at least depending on stock and order fluctuation.
- Responsible for the management and control of all procurement of
consumables and maintenance spares as requires from the production
plan, ensure that the correct specifications are used.
- Performs expediting of all outstanding orders.
- Control stocks to set levels on a daily basis, production tooling / high -
Valued items issued from a register and analysed on a monthly basis to
compare efficiency and cost saving where relevant
- Assisting the storemen with issuing of items from the store and relevant
areas. With strict control measures and systems
- Placing and verify telephonic orders and verify prices on orders.
- Liaise with all levels of management regarding related aspects of
operation of Videx and the requirements for the future.
Obtain quotes to ensure optimum cost effectiveness of all purchases i.e.
a) Best price
b) Best quality
c) Best service
d) Correct documentation
- Performs all other duties that Management may require from time to time.
- Records Production & Maintenance consumables stock levels to be
checked and maintained on Mondays and Wednesdays every week, or
when needed.
- Ensures that all orders generated will be signed of by either the Factory
Manager or the Manufacturing Director
- Cost saving ideas and Implementation of the systems. Every year over 2.2
million was saved by the new systems

Responsibilities
- All the above mentioned responsibilities are still part of my current

- Human Resources function like Chairman of hearings, defending staff
when requested, handling dismissals , being the company’s representative
during the hearings.
- Ensuring that production flow of material is constant and the production
through put is always around 97% including breakdowns. 100%(will be
part of an ideal world)
- Chairman of the Health and safety meetings, ensuring that all that was
discussed are implemented and captured
- HOD of the purchasing department and the QC department.
- Daily production analysis and Process/production scrap analysis
- Purchasing of all Raw Material required by Production estimated value of
R10 Mil – R 15 Mil per month. Order placing on steel Mills for a window
period of 3 months at least depending on stock and order fluctuation.
- Weekly planning and constantly ensuring that the correct product is
produced. Monthly avg unit output is 800 000 units in various form and
type
- Cost saving on peeling / threadrolling / taps and drills and gloves by using
strict control systems and managing each variable that could influence
reduction in production
- Responsible for management and control of the production department
(roof bolt plant), which includes labour related issues.
- Assist where necessary with the production planning with the Production
Manager and the Dispatch manger and relevant supervisors to meet
customer order requirements.
- Liaises with the Buyer, Production Managers / Production Supervisors /
Foremen to ensure that the correct levels of all work-in-progress are
maintained, enabling complete flexibility of production and product
assemblies with optimum machine utilization. This ensures customer’s
requirements are met with regard to safety, quality and punctual delivery.
I am a motivated, hard working individual with good leadership skills. I can work unsupervised and I
am also a team player. I am keen to learn new skills and willing to put in the extra hours to get the

- Implementing the Quality policy, that requires a high standard of

form on defective Raw Material.
- Compiles summary of Production Statistics and presents it to the
Operations Director.
- Document control; issue of quality documents and amendments are part of
his responsibility.
- Liaises with the maintenance department.
- Performs periodic reviews on quality procedures to verify the applicability
and effectiveness of the quality management system.
- Manage the scrap measurement and control the removal of the
containers.
- Works in close liaison with the Operations Director on the Monthly
Production Plan from which all raw material purchases are generated.
