This is a simple way to show the students what are the features required for a diary entry,. Can be used for Ks3 as the language used is very simple.

  1. 1. LESSON OBJECTIVE:- TO PLAN WRITING A DIARY ENTRY
  2. 2. What are the features of a Diary entry? Informal tone First person - Use pronouns such as I, We, Us, We´re, I´m. This will make you feel part of the story Emotive language Chronological order- Start with events that happened early in the day, and end with events that took place in the evening. Opinion/Point of view
  3. 3. FOCUS POINTS:- Understand that eventually the diary will become your best friend, silent confessor, or witness. Put the date or some sequence information in the diary, maybe at the top of the page. Start writing the diary only if you really have interest in it.
  4. 4. What should i write ??  Give detailed information about places, objects, people and events.  Avoid describing what is not needed!  Talk about events that involved you, or your family, or close friends.  Avoid talking about strangers, and events you were not involved in.
  5. 5.  Don´t be afraid to write about your feelings and emotions. Áfter all, it´s a personal diary and you share everything with it! The last point !!
