Nouns are names of people, places, things, or ideas. Pronouns are used as substitutes for nouns. Verbs express actions or states of being. Adjectives modify nouns or pronouns. Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. Prepositions show relationships between nouns or pronouns and other words. Conjunctions connect words or groups of words. Interjections express emotions.
