Editor's Notes
We are transitioning from book studies to reading the Bible Chronologically.
I am so fired up about this I don’t even know what to do with myself honestly…
I read through the Bible 3 times but I haven’t done it in probably 10 years because between work and teaching classes, we don’t have a lot of time to do any “extra” reading.
We will be teaching and reading so there won’t be anything “extra” and I am fired up at that opportunity.
We will be bridging the time between what we have been doing and what we will be doing by walking through Advent.
Singing is not my thing so I was fired up when I saw what the foundation of the song was bent around.
The song Joy to the World was written by Isaac Watts in 1719 and is based on Psalm 98.
Everyone knows how much I love to sing so I figured we would go to Psalm 98 instead.
Need to have five friends in order to keep you focused.

Know the Bible, know what God has done for Israel…
This leads back to why reading the Bible is such a big deal. We have to know what Israel was up against in order to know what God has done and be encouraged by that.
A big reason why we don’t trust God is simply becasue we don’t really understand what He has done and just how big a deal it is.
light vs. dark
good vs. evil
Israel vs. every other people
Witnesses vs. the World
Gideon defeats Midian with trumpets and torches. 300 vs. 135,000.
Manvel has 75 on their varsity and we have 35 :-).
Bible literacy is a big deal. Knowing your Bible puts you in position to know God better which will put you in position to be a witness for Him and tell others about Him…
When you can connect the dots in your own life, it will put you in position to be a witness for others…
- Take the past to help you deal with the present…
Biblical accountability is the key to being who you the Bible says and who you should say you want to be.
That endurance is what puts us in position to be the sort of witnesses that will point everyone to Jesus…
Past and future helps me endure in the present…always going to be that way until He comes back!
Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, as he causes us to see the beauty of Christ in the word and in the world. ~John Piper
Believers focus on the joy set before them regardless of the situation which is what makes us a witness to the truth.
