3. 1 Now faith is the assurance of things
hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2 For by it the people of old received their
commendation. 3 By faith we understand
that the universe was created by the word
of God, so that what is seen was not made
out of things that are visible.
4. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more
acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through
which he was commended as righteous,
God commending him by accepting his
gifts. And through his faith, though he
died, he still speaks.
5. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should
not see death, and he was not found, because
God had taken him. Now before he was taken he
was commended as having pleased God. 6 And
without faith it is impossible to please him, for
whoever would draw near to God must believe
that he exists and that he rewards those who
seek him.
6. 7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning
events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed
an ark for the saving of his household. By this he
condemned the world and became an heir of the
righteousness that comes by faith. 8 By faith
Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a
place that he was to receive as an inheritance.
And he went out, not knowing where he was
going.
7. 9 By faith he went to live in the land of
promise, as in a foreign land, living in
tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him
of the same promise. 10 For he was looking
forward to the city that has foundations,
whose designer and builder is God.
8. 11 By faith Sarah herself received power to
conceive, even when she was past the age,
since she considered him faithful who had
promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and
him as good as dead, were born
descendants as many as the stars of
heaven and as many as the innumerable
grains of sand by the seashore.
9. 13 These all died in faith, not having
received the things promised, but having
seen them and greeted them from afar, and
having acknowledged that they were
strangers and exiles on the earth. 14 For
people who speak thus make it clear that
they are seeking a homeland.
10. 15 If they had been thinking of that land
from which they had gone out, they would
have had opportunity to return. 16 But as
it is, they desire a better country, that is, a
heavenly one. Therefore God is not
ashamed to be called their God, for he has
prepared for them a city.

16. Faith is a living, bold trust in God’s grace, so certain of God’s favor that it would
risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of
God’s grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all
creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you
freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of
things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. Thus, it is just as
impossible to separate faith and works as it is to separate heat and light from fire!
Therefore, watch out for your own false ideas and guard against good-for-nothing
gossips, who think they’re smart enough to define faith and works, but really are
the greatest of fools. Ask God to work faith in you, or you will remain forever
without faith, no matter what you wish, say or can do.

19. The gospel is the good news that Jesus
Christ, the Son of God, died for our sins and
rose again, eternally triumphant over his
enemies, so that there is now no
condemnation for those who believe, but only
everlasting joy. That’s the gospel.

Editor's Notes
I don't do a good job of focusing on the titles for the most part but we have to remember...only Believers can see the world through the lens of the Bible...
- Doesn't mean we are perfect at it. Can be frustrated or distracted which can cause our vision to be blurry at times.
- That being said, non-believers cannot see the Gospel because they have not been given the lens to do so.

Get the Bible App so we can walk through this together…
There is a level of accountability that comes with the app but honestly this class is at that point. We should be pushing each other harder so we can grow deeper…
Great videos on YouTube
Buzz words that bring us back to where we need to be. Dustin is great at that…
Faith allows us to see the Hope we have and Jesus and the joy set before us…
Paul and the scales that fall of his eyes…
Definition of faith…
Assurance: we are confident here.
Commendation: Witness or affirmation of what they say they believe.
Love how we go from things that are not seen to realizing what the foundation of the definition is…things are there, it is just that we see them differently.
- He still speaks…love that…
Eldest son of Cain
The 7th Adam
He walked with God and was taken up without death
Jude 1:14-16 (ESV Strong's) 14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.
Again…Cain’s life said something for generations…what does your life say?

Condemned this world…
Common theme in the Bible:
Where are you called
What are you called to do when you get there
- Again, eye discipline…focusing on the things that the world cannot see…
Abraham and Sarah both have doubts but they go anyway…mess up multiple times…even fearful at times but they are still in the “Wall of Faith”
Cannot let Satan use that against you…
People who have their eyes focused on the wrong things make excuses all the time…
- Again, eye discipline here…seen and unseen is a big deal…
This is not our home so we should look at anything as if it is more than an instrument for His glory…
Again, sent then do…
Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV) 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
Why are you where you are? If you are not there because that is where God has sent you, you will be so frustrated you cannot see anything.
You have to spend time in the Word and with God’s people so your mind is renewed to the point where you can see things God’s way.
Seek the welfare…seek to. Help people where they are broken…
If you are where you are supposed to be doing what God has called you to go, that is when you experience peace regardless of circumstance.
