The Passive Voice
ПАСИВНИЙ СТАН
Страдательный залог
We use the Passive Voice
 when it is not important who or what does the action;
 when the action itself is more important than its doer;
 if the doer of the action is unknown, unimportant, or clear
from the context.
The Passive Voice
The Passive Voice shows that the person or object
expressed by the subject is experiencing an effect on itself.
(Пасивний стан показує, що особа або предмет,
виражена/ий підметом, відчуває дію на собі,
а не є виконавцем дії)
 This poet writes a lot of poems every year.
 A lot of poems are written every year by this poet.
to be + V3 (-ed)
The Present Simple Passive:
am / is / are + V3 (-ed)

Passive Voice
• 1. The books are divided into 2
groups.
• 2. His stories are often published by
them (me, her, him, us, you).
• 3. Ann’s son is taught to read.
• 4. I am always invited to his parties.
