2. I will be discussing on a range of mediums that has potentially
influenced on our ideas regarding our music video. The genre of the
song is a Pop genre therefore by analyzing similar videos and text of
Pop. It will reinforce on what to include within our music video as well
as creating a conventional pop music video.
3. From researching pop music video’s, there has
been many of videos where it may influenced
our ideas. For example, in Taylor swift music video
called “style”. She had multiples color palettes
within her video and we took inspiration on the
idea and included in our music video. We had
variations on colors from red, blue and green. We
did this as it contrasted with the mise en scene as
well as the colors are quite vibrant, warm and
energetic.
4. Another video that influenced us was Water Guns
by Todrick Hall. This video includes him lip
syncing in a urban city where there is art
Graffiti which acts as a background. We took this
inspiration to our music video as the graffiti
would make it realistic to the audience since we
had a timeline of history thus making it tiresome
for the audience. We added this as we still
wanted to create a modern and contemporary
music video which would appeal to our target
audience.
5. In addition, we were influenced
“Run the girls” from Beyoncé. This is
because all of the dancers and
Beyoncé was united together. We
implemented the idea to our music
video regarding about the protest.
We had the same idea on how it
would look like and it had linked to
the lyrics of the song.
6. In this We love Pop magazine, we were influenced on
this text as we can clearly see Rihanna being fierce,
attractive and bold due to her makeup. This
influenced our idea on who to cast for our artist and
who to include in our music video. We realized there
was many pop artists who were the same as Rihanna
therefore we had to cast someone who had the same
personality and appearance as her.
7. Lastly, in this video we were influenced in
Emma Watson speech regarding equal pays.
This had determined our narrative as we
implemented this type of theme in our
music video. We added a equality scene that
both genders are equally important.
8. Reflection
From looking at a range of similar texts and videos. It has been
acknowledged that a majority of pop music videos have the
same conventions which has given me multiples ideas to be
creative within my music video. This has aided me as I have a
better understanding of Pop genre as it has allowed me on to
experiment on what type of aspects works or does not work.
Also I have obtained inspiration and influential aspects from
similar texts and videos which has taught me that I heavily rely
on hyper reality which is shown in different mediums.
