This is an instructional presentation on information literacy programs. For this example it will be a bibliographic instruction which are activities designed to teach users how
to locate and use information.

• Alexander Street Academic Video Online is one the most
comprehensive video subscription that delivers over 78,000 titles,
spans a wide range of subject areas, and includes 14,000 titles
exclusive to Alexander Street, with an annual cost.
• It gives patrons access to almost 50,000 streaming videos. It is one
the largest public library database available on today.
• You can search almost 90,000 titles available at Alexander Street

4. How to Access
• Alexander Street Press Video Collections can be accessed through
the internet.
• https://alexanderstreet.com/page/streaming-video
• You can use any search engine: Google, Bing, etc.
• You can also access Alexander Street from Google Chrome, Fire
Fox, Safari etc.
5. How to Search
• You are also able to access Alexander Street through your student
portal.
• Step 1: Go to dom.edu next look at the top right corner and click
on the tab Quick Links. Then scroll down until you see Library.
Once you see the word library it will direct you to the Rebecca
Crown Library page.

• Step 2: Next click on the tab Find a Database or Article. This will
be in the middle of the page.
• Next hit the drop down button and a list of databases in
aplphabetical order will appear.
• Once you see Alexander Street Press Video Collection click.
• This is a subscription database.
• If you have not already login to your student portal due so now.
7. How to Search
• Step 3: When you come to the main page of Alexander Street Press
Video Collection you will see seven tabs at the top of the website
page. The seven tabs will say: My Collections, Disciplines, Titles,
Publishers, Playlists, Clips, and Advance Search.
• Click on the tab that says My collections then click the drop down
arrow.
• Next click the section that says “ Black Thought and Culture”.
• When you come to the Black Thought and Culture page scroll down
just a little you will see a section called Browses.

• Step 5: Under the Browses section you will see 7 categories:
• Titles
• Historical Events
• Subjects
• Content Types
• Place Discussed
• People
• Publishers
9. How to Search
• Step 6: Click on the People tab.
• You will then come to a page titled Browse People.
• The names will be in alphabetical order by last name.
• At the top of the page you will the alphabet click on the letter
“D” for this example you will be searching for William Edward
Burghardt Du Bois also known as W.E.B. Du Bois the famous
American sociologist and author.
• When you click the letter “D” then click “Du”. W.E.B Du Bois will
be the third name from the top.
10. How to Search
• Step 7: When you see W.E.B. Du Bois name look to you right you
will see two columns titled: Works By and Works About
• Click on the number 213 in the Works By column.
• Next click the very first tile it is called: “Africa, It’s Geography,
People, and Products, and Africa, Its Place in Modern History”.
• Once you click the first title you will be able to begin reading.
• This will be good reading material for literature, geography, and
history.

be used for?
• Alexander Street can you being used to watch documentaries,
read books and scholarly articles.
• Subject Areas includes: Anthropology, Behavioral, Mental Health,
Humanities, Music, Dance, Theatre, Drama, Science, Medicine,
Social Science, Australia and New Zealand.
• The libraries offered: Academic, Public, and K-12
